I have been playing around with ZaraRadio the last few days. Version 1.4 supported the SoundSolution plugin, but I was hearing clicks when ZaraRadio crossfaded playlist items. Version 1.6 removed plugin support entirely. This was a major disappointment, as the SoundSolution plugin made my OTR files sound much better.

Well, I just figured out how to get ZaraRadio 1.6 and SoundSolution working together again. You need the following files:

Version 1.6 removed plugin support entirely. This was a major disappointment, as the SoundSolution plugin made my OTR files sound much better.

Well, I just figured out how to get ZaraRadio 1.6 and SoundSolution working together again. You need the following files:

1 - Virtual Audio Cable http://spider.nrcde.ru/music/software/eng/vac.html. It costs $30, but there is a trial version. (You know it's the trial version, because your audio is overlaid with someone saying "trial" repeatedly).

2 - WinAmp Lite http://www.winamp.com.

3 - The WinAmp plugin "LineIn" http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/lineinWA2/index.html.

4 - The SoundSolution plugin http://www.soundsolution.it/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1.

After installing Virtual Audio Cable, read the help file for setup and testing. Make sure it works before proceeding.

Install WinAmp, the SoundSolution plugin and the LineIn plugin. To make things easier, I configured LineIn with an alias for the Virtual Cable. For both the Standard and the DirectSound options, I used the alias "vc1".

Set ZaraRadio "Air Output" to "Virtual Cable 1". In WinAmp, play the following URL: "line://dev=wvc1" to use the "waveout" device, or "line://dev=dvc1" to use the DirectSound device (There are many options listed on the LineIn web page). You should be hearing the output of ZaraRadio playing through WinAmp and SoundSolution.

In the limited testing I have done so far, this does work for me. When items in the ZaraRadio 1.6 playlist crossfade, I don't get the annoying clicks that I got with ZaraRadio 1.4. However, the audio doesn't actually fade in/out like it should. This is due to SoundSolution (verified by disabling SoundSolution). Changing the compressor settings may fix this. I will have to experiment further. One other option would be to use a crossfade plugin in WinAmp and disable crossfade in ZaraRadio.

If ZaraRadio 1.4 didn't click when crossfading, I might just keep using the older version. The clicking in version 1.4, plus the new features in version 1.6 make this work-around desireable, although more complicated. If anyone discovers a better way to do this, please let us all know.

I use Version 1.4.4 with Audiostocker plugin and never once had any issues with it. I went back to 1.4.4 after i discovered that 1.6 didnt support plugins. Audiostocker in my opinion is leaps and bounds better then Sound Solution.

I found out why I was getting choppy audio when seeking in ZaraRadio 1.6 and using Virtual Audio Cable as described above. It was a matter of mismatched sample rates. Using the VAC Control Panel, I found that ZaraRadio was sending audio at 48KHz. I had not explicitly set the sample rate in WinAmp, so it defaulted to 44.1KHz. Once I used line://dev=dvc1,srate=48000 in WinAmp to match the sample rates, the choppy audio problem disappeared.

The sample rates may be different with your audio card. Use the VAC Control Panel to check what your card uses.
