I posted this question to the ZaraRadio forum, but thought I would also post it here. There seem to be lots of smart folks on this forum using ZaraRadio.

I want a different event to fire every hour, exactly on the hour. Each of these events will play a different OTR episode via a ROT file and then fill up the rest of the hour with other semi-random material, not to exceed the one hour time slot. I don't normally use fadeout, but could use it for the last filler item before the top of the hour, if necessary. What is the best way to do what I want?

Example:
8am - play an episode of Gunsmoke - filler for the remaining time
9am - play an episode of Dragnet - filler for the remaining time
10am - play an episode of X Minus One - filler for the remaining time

Thanks.

After some head scratching and experimenting, I got things working the way I want. Using my example from above, here is what I did:

1 - Create separate ROT files for Gunsmoke, Dragnet and X Minus One.

2 - Create three playlists called 8am, 9am and 10am.

3 - Each playlist starts with a 4 second pause to allow for the fade from the previous playlist.

4 - Add the appropriate ROT file to each playlist.

5 - The remainder of the hour in each playlist can then be filled with either a random folder, a SEQ file, a ROT file, or whatever you want. Just remember that the last item should carry into the next hour. That last item will get faded out at the start of the next hour.

6 - Create three events called 8am, 9am and 10am. Set the times appropriately, make them immediate and high priority. Each event loads the matching playlist.

This concept can be expanded to any number of hours and days. I don't think I missed anything in my directions ๐Ÿ™‚
