Loading Coils on Everything

In PhilB’s “Ultimate Part 15 Installation”

/node/2728

we utilize 64 ground radials of 30-foot length.

But as with typical outdoor designs, only the 3-meter vertical antenna is driven by a loading coil.

WHAT IF 64 additional loading coils drove each of the ground radials?

WOULD each radial think it was longer than it was?

WOULD this make shorter radials, perhaps only 16-feet long, think they were longer?

The building of such a space-age antenna would become Outdoor Art of major significance.

Calm Seas

Brought to alert by recent warnings that there is some kind of a big crack down, from a few members who took to the hills of non participation, I first looked out the window.

Brought to alert by recent warnings that there is some kind of a big crack down, from a few members who took to the hills of non participation, I first looked out the window.

A guy was walking two tiny designer dogs for his girlfriend, nice of him. No surveillance by triangulation.

In any case, I reviewed my stations for compliance. 101.9 and 107.1 were so weak I can hardly get them only a few feet away, coming from certified Mickey Mouse transmitters.

AM 970, the carrier current station, was last set as low as it will go, 1/4-Watt, and then turned off anyway, since there’s more to be done regarding feild measurement to assure compliance.

AM 1550, the AMT3000, has recently been upgraded with a triangular loading coil and two-pole baseboard ground radial driving the Wintenna (window frame as antenna), and has its resonant signal which falls off rapidly at the public sidewalk.

AM1680, the AMT5000, another Wintenna installation, happens to reach a block or two, so I considered my frequent statement that “I am not trying to reach an audience”, and shut it down.

Looking at the wider world a visit was paid to the FCC Enforcement database and noticed that NOUO (Notice of Unauthorized Operation)letters between June and the end of August included about 5 FM stations in various states measured at field strengths well above the part 15 limit.

No trouble on AM, except for a few licensed stations who had discrepancies.

The big crack down has yet to arrive.

Listen to Me

This is a philosophy ramble, searching for the reason that some of us “want to be heard on the radio”.

This is a philosophy ramble, searching for the reason that some of us “want to be heard on the radio”.

The human mammal is social, which quickly explains why we like to exchange contact within the herd. But the wish to be “listened to on radio” is something of a one-way exchange.

Sure, there are program types that allow “feedback”, including request shows and call-in shows, but on our small scale with part 15 such neighborly contact could be done without radio.

But the radio operator “controls” the signals he modulates, and stands at a distance from those contacted.

Narcissism might play a role, but with a bigger “mirror” in which to admire our own opinions and taste.

The residents living within the signal contour also have opinions and taste, which often explains why they may not listen. They’ve all made their musical selections and hold opinions that may not be open to question.

Why do you think we want to be heard?

Philanthropist

Most philanthropists give money to worthy causes. I am not that kind of philanthropist.

Because I have more ideas than I can achieve in 400-years, I give away ideas.

Most philanthropists give money to worthy causes. I am not that kind of philanthropist.

Because I have more ideas than I can achieve in 400-years, I give away ideas.

Today’s free idea is a title and subject for a book.

The title is: Small Feet in the Door”

The subject: The Part 15 Story Book.

Imagine every part 15 tale being gathered between hard cover.

That would guarantee each one of us a 4-minute slice of the 15-minutes of fame we might reasonably expect.
