Streams Flooding Over

November 15, 2012 by Carl Blare

Today has been productive here at Worldround Radio.

Today has been productive here at Worldround Radio.

I homed in on my Demand Radio page where the little player buttons that trigger on demand plays of The Low Power Hour and Blare OnAir are obsolete, by my own decision, because they are crippled samples from a commercial company and are no longer supported.

The Flash Player I use on my home page for listening to our ongoing stream is an open source device previously named FFMP3 Player, and newly renamed Muses Player, which has undergone some recent upgrades. It turns out that I was able to employ this same player on the Demand page.

After playing the Feature Program it presumably will switch to my online stream until the stop button is pushed, whereas the old player would continuously repeat the program.

In the next few days, when I add more frill, during times when I am officially not streaming, the Muses Player will switch to a “we are not streaming message” which will repeat until stopped.

I may be replacing myself with automation methods.

The buttons that are on the “radios” are very cool.
    Great art work!

    XML Script
Any flash player will do that via an XML script. Used to have my flash players do that years ago, till people were gripping that the file players should be separate from the player linking to the streams.

Bunch of nit picking wah wah…so I completely removed the flash players and huge bright neon lit “LISTEN HERE” buttons that apparently did not make sense to most.

      Listener Count Unchanged
Today I actually had a listener for a few hours, but usually I am the one and only listener and I alone am impressed by little frills that can be added once in awhile.

I might go down and talk to one of the many prisons to see if they will force prisoners to listen as part of their sentence.

I noticed a message on Shoutcast that I am one of 30,000 radio stations.

I have never heard the other 29,999 stations.

About 10,000 of them seem to be The Alex Jones Show.

        How Many
How many streams/radios does it take to listen to just one show?

        The world…they never know…and won’t know…and can’t tell the difference.

        See that shoutcast station listing?

It is the same thing if there was a station listing for terrestrial stations.

Tens of thousands all carrying the same program, at the same time, all the time.

Don’t you just love the choice and variety?!!

And we used to complain there was nothing on with only 3 channels of TV.

Now there are several hundreds of channels…and still nothing on.

        Radio..no different…except for Part 15.

Hey Carl, when you do, maybe you ought to also configure your code so it doesn’t display “INTRO” for the entire duration.. or is the introduction actually an hour long?

      Intro
I have made one exploration under the hood in an attempt to replace the INTRO word with a better description of what’s playing, but it does not seem to be editable.

The Flash Player actually intended that mo3 playing capacity to be an Intro Message to the stream that gets connected right after the mp3 intro plays. I happened to realize that my “intro” could be a whole hour long program. Then after that it does switch to the kdx stream.

But I will look again and maybe even write the author, who does invite feedback.

        Carl, I think I see what’s
Carl, I think I see what’s going on..
The reason it constantly displays “INTRO” is because…

        ‘introurl’:’archive_files/lph65_48_V3.mp3′,

refers to an option for a few seconds of an audio introduction before it switches to your “live stream”…

What you have going on is that you are using the introduction option to play the entire (mp3) program..
If you were to remove that optional line entirely then it would jump straight to your stream, and it would display “The Talking Point” as you had specified..
But you don’t actually have a stream!

        Anyway.. that’s why

When I started this post I thought I had a solution.. but realize now that I actually don’t, so I’m just going to shut up now.

        Don’t even read this.

        Nevermind

          Script Examples
Google (w/o quotes) “Flash Player XML Scripts” and you will get a ton of helpful info on setting up those players to display meta data and title data correctly.

THIS link takes you to a step by step process in creating a streaming flash player based on pure XML script, which makes it entirely customizable.

            Another Project
I today am changing our name to Project Incorporated, because that’s all we do. Always another project. And projects never die. The Big Talker SW Transmitter Project was wrapped up several years ago, only to be unwrapped with new input.

The Deep Voice Long Wave Transmitter Project slowed to a crawl when we ran out of input, but then things picked up and we are ready to build, but not today.

The ALPB got off to a thundering start, but with about five members we are waiting for an actual runway for takeoff. Meeting tonight. Join.

The Remote Control Project, the ability to turn transmitters off and on from a distance, has been flooded by too many ways of doing it, all requiring building stuff and experimenting. How about 2014.

Now I blundered into the “modify the Flash Player Project”, and luckily RFB has once again tossed a clue for solution into the fray.

Just earlier this morning I printed out all 17-pages of single-spaced machine code comprising the Muses.swf file, which I think might contain the word “Intro” which I can maybe change to “Other”. But it can’t be that simple.

XML sounds like a good idea. But I have a project first called “coffee cup”.
