Prelude to The Storm
Here in Northeast Ohio, we’ve already had about 3 inches of rain over the last couple days.
Flood warnings have been issued starting Sunday evening (10/28) through Tuesday.
Southern Ohio is to receive blizzard style snow up to 12 inches. Northeastern Ohio is expected to receive the same in the form of rain mixed with snow.

Forecast – WET…
The “Frankenstorm” wasn’t to bad. The initial wind came through after 3 days of rain and brought down lot’s of power lines. I myself was out running traffic signals on generators last night.
I had one traffic signal head hanging by the wire when the suspension hardware broke. Those are fun to reattach in 40 MPH winds with rain.
Our Electric Service department, also out all night, is still at it.
The northwest quadrant andpart of the southwest quadrant was in full blackout for about 4 hours. Plenty of lines down due to fallen trees.
At our house, we register 4 inches of rain over the last 4 days.
The Cuyahoga River is up but no roads flooded out yet. Where the river runs through the City’s major park area the water is about 500 feet past the river edge. But, that’s typical with heavy rain.

That is heroic real life action and very interesting to hear about.
On Sunday as the storm was approaching the sea coast I produced a special “Storm Approach” edition of the LPH, but have been unable to upload it to the website for some reason, maybe the service provider is under water.

Yes, I’d be happy to fill in the blanks regarding my emergency operation.
We also have an internet related problem affecting a large area in northeast Ohio. Seems a phone company fiber optic cable was cut. This has interrupted the NOAA WX mp3 FTP site which forces me to read copy now for weather updates.

Had to empty the rain gauge today, only holds 5 inches.
Constant drizzle today, light winds.
Supposed to have heavier rain tomorrow.
