comes looking for you.
The other day I was sleeping in as our 1 year old has had her days/nights confused keeping the wife and I awake most of the night.
A knock on the door woke us , as i struggled to get some clothes on my wife had beat me to the door, after a few minutes she came back to the bedroom to tell me a old friend was at the door.
I had no clue as to who it could have been.
As I made my way out the front door i was surprised to see my friend David , an engineer from the station i worked for in 96-97.
He had tracked me down using what information he had found on my blogs here at part15.us, my blogspot page and rental manager.
I was blown away and happy to see someone who shares my interest in radio.
Smart eh?
After talking with him for awhile he told me the local station here in town needed some part-time help and that if i was interested i should go speak with the gm at wkfo/wkfc.
I was sort of in shock and probably still a little groggy (i cant think straight without my coffee) and said I would visit the station around 1 pm that afternoon.
After meeting with the manager and seeing yet another friend from the past, i aggreed to help out with ball games and anything else they needed help with.
This is a large group of stations and the owners have a long history of broadcasting that date back to the 1960’s.
It would be an understatement to say that i was looking forward to this new adventure in radio.
My stations will continue to broadcast as usual and hopefully Ill pick up some pointers along the way that could help my part 15 operations here at home.
Until next post, keep on rockin’

Nice Story
Rock,
Nice story and I hope it works to your satisfaction. Maybe they will pick up a few pointers from you.

Update
Hello Everybody!
I wanted to post an update after my first evening at work.
After a delicious steak and fries dinner to celebrate returning to a real radio job i headed out to the studio’s.
The studio’s are about 5 miles (more or less) from where I live so it doesn’t take long to get there, even with all the traffic we have in this little town.
After meeting with some of the people I will be working with during the football games we got to work setting up computers for the football games. Including a couple streams online and archiving for On-Demand listening from the website.
After a few unexpected problems the rest of the evening went pretty well. One thing we had trouble with was a stream of Radar Love and station ID’s repeating itself over one of the computers. lol
We couldn’t track down the source, but after restarting the streams the mystery stream stopped. It was quite an evening.
One thing for sure, this job will keep me on my toes and the people I will be working with are great so it makes the job seem less like work.
I have some things I need to be brought up to speed on,including new automation software, editing software and keeping track of what program goes out to wich station. One of my jobs is editing highlights from the game archives and sending them out to the other stations as fast as I can, so I am learning Adobe Audition here at home in my spare time.
It really feels great to be back in radio again and working with friends makes it more enjoyable too. The fact that these stations focus their attention on the community sets them apart from the corporate stations .
You can learn more about the station’s I work for at the following url :

Until next time Keep Rockin’
Transistor Radio Night for Local Radio
Congrats on the new RADIO job. I hope the locals enjoy the local football coverage because I know you’ll be lovin’ doin’ it.
I’ve been toying with the idea of airing our local high school games on the City’s TIS station. I’ll call it “Transistor Radio Night”.
Except for the half time band show I think it would fall under the realm of information radio. The TIS license does not allow broadcasting music. Maybe some pre-game interviews to fill up the half time slot.
