Several years ago I coined the world’s first and only Part 15 joke:
“Part 15ers touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
Over seven people thought that was kind of funny.
Several years ago I coined the world’s first and only Part 15 joke:
“Part 15ers touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
Over seven people thought that was kind of funny.
Now, after years of inactivity, I have the second Part 15 joke:
“People dig Part 15 AM radio,
because it’s the best way to install ground radials.”

There Ya Go!
HOWS ABOUT THIS?
My transmitter isn’t QUITE
tuned up, so I”m only Part 14.
OR, EVEN WORSE
I’m only running 50 milliwatts
input, so I’m PART SEVEN AND A HALF!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(Cough, cough, cough)
Bruce,
DOG RADIO STUDIO 2.00000000000000000000000000000
P.S. OHHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I thought of ANOTHER ONE
My transmitter keeps blowing up, so I’m
PART THIRTEEN!!!!!!!
AAAARRRGH!!!!
Loved Your Part Jokes
Get it? “Part jokes?” Jokes that are just partly jokes …. about Part 15…. never mind.
Well, I think about it all the time.
What, Carl. What do you think about all the time?
Well, the fact that so many full grown men with educations and careers and families are operating radio stations that can’t be measured.
It just seems, at times, silly. But then I spent the day wiring up a second aluminum storm window in parallel with the first one and the signal strength jumped way up.
Later tonight I’ll go for a drive to see what kind of distance we’re talking about.
We take you now to Dog Studio 2 Radio for a special message….
“Bark, bark, yip, arf, yip, bark!!!!!!”
I think the storm window idea is brilliant!
By the way, my brother and a friend
of mine are radio historians here in
CT. They have been interviewed on
local commercial radio. My friend
is publishing a book about Connecticut
radio that will be out in December, and
my brother is working on a radio documentary
for a local noncommercial station.
I feel that the Part 15 hobby can be very
much linked to that, and that is what I
feel really justifies my Part 15 operation.
So let us know what your window antenna
signal range is. I am very interested in
that.
And yes, my Part 15 jokes really are
“part jokes.” I hadn’t thought of it
that way. It’s true though.
Arf!

Stories of Storm Windows
Right after sending that posting about the double-storm window experiment I headed to the store with radio blazing and found that the signal was noticably more solid within the same small range it previously had reached, namely right to the street corner about 150 feet away, but when I cross that intersection the signal is totally gone.
The idea with the storm window is that the signal radiates both indoors and outdoors.
The storm window in the front of the house does much better by reaching about three blocks in all directions, but there are all kinds of differences between the two transmitter locations, and right now I’m trying to improve the setup in the back of the house, which seems to be a poor transmission location. The very fact that it is poor makes it a perfect laboratory experiment where I can truly notice improvements.
I’m down too
My Part 15 station is down to 50 mw too … some militants in the flea population that power it are on strike demanding more rations, but I have no idea what fleas eat.
This is no joke … I’m desperate … what should I do?
How about this one?
What did the Part 15 operator do when he couldn’t find a ten-foot pole for his antenna?
He used two five-foot Lithuanians.
And this one?
How did the Part 15 operator notify his listeners that his transmitter will be down for a while?
He shouted out of his window.
Bodda Bing!
Or this one?
How many Part 15 operators does it take to change a light bulb?
One.
Sorrry, Carl. I was typing when you posted.
I gotta million of ’em!
What do commercial station owners dislike most about Part 15 operators?
That they’re breathing!
Joking and Groping
Thinking about the days when unions required stations to have at least three operators, board operator, turntable operator and announcer, I thought….
Wouldn’t it be something if the unions required Part 15 stations to have all those people on duty? Then it would take more than one person to change a light bulb.
Union rules
Good point. Under union rules, it takes three people to change a light bulb. One to change the light bulb, one to serve as Shop Stewart, and one to leave the work site and goof off somewhere.
Station ID
As part of my station ID I have my computer randomly pick a cute little thing to say after the id.
I have it say things like:
If you can hear us, then get out of our yard!
or
On a clear day we can hit the pool. (the community pool is about 300 feet away.)
LOL!!
LOL! That is Funny! i couldn’t breathe ’cause i was laughing so hard! good joke RidgeView! that is blue collared!
GOOD AD LINE
PART 15 RADIO – ROCKS THREE BLOCKS
OHHHHHHHHHHHH NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!
Two Part 15 stations were testing their
transmitters.
The operators knew each other and agreed
to tune in each others stations.
Why couldn’t they hear each other?
BECAUSE THEY WERE IN ADJOINING APARTMENTS!!!!!
“HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA”
“Oh, NO!”
(NOISE OF FALLING DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS)
“I’M OK! I’M OK!”

Comedy As a Weapon
The comedy group Monte Python did a routine in which the army was developing a joke weapon that would make the enemy laugh to death.
Bruce?
Restless Audience
Ermi, those are good, and I want to experiment with a favorite comedy gimmick that I like to try once in awhile, namely, the massive misunderstanding.
Wow, you made an antenna from two huge Lithuanian batteries?
Memory Hall
In “Memory Hall” I remember when I was the announcer at a tv station, and my favorite buddy was the union engineer who goofed off in some “unknown room.”
RidgeView, your slogans are fun and similar to a couple I just started saying…
“Radio is Smarter Than Television.” That’s not so much funny as it is true.
And…
“KDX is operating at FULL low power.”
Monty Python
Carl, I saw that Monty Python
routine! It was hilarious!
So Carl! How many Part 15 jokes
have we got now? When I posted
my last one, I was crying so hard,
I couldn’t count them.
Feeling Better Now.

Another
When is addiction good?
When it is a Part 15 addiction.
Not Expensive Quency
When you find your open spot on the dial for Part 15 broadcasting
you have found your FREE_quency.
Not really a joke…
Might make a good “liner” for your station!
“WXXX, Your City. 100 milliwatts. Sounds like a million!”
