No Thanks Givin?

December 19, 2012 by jpjanze

After a week of allowing my forum’s library resource being publicly viewable, and tracking and tracing IP’s to who and where, not a single one from here offers up any kind of thank you’s??

One of the reasons why it is now locked down to members only and leech and hotlink protected at the host!

I know who downloaded what and when and where they are. Sad man..just sad.

YOUR WELCOME! :/

    Thanks
I think the library is great and appreciate having access to it.

Also, in radio over the years I’ve noticed that non-response equals approval.

The audience never calls or writes when they get programming they like.

The audience only responds with complaints.

Unfortunately, station managers respond to complaints and the non-responsive listeners don’t get counted.

Since no one complained about the manuals being linked, you can be sure everybody is pleased.

    Thank you.

I read this post and had an immediate negative reaction. But I went away and thought a bit before coming back and commenting.

I don’t know about the copyright status of the stuff you shared, but if you do have the rights to keep it online on your site (I always worry about that), then it was a nice gesture. Up and until you started expecting something in return, whatever that something was.

When I first saw that you were opening up access to the material, my first thought was, why not put it here? The Part 15 Forum appears to be the central point for most interested in the hobby (or business). And there is a file section. I did ask that question, not really receiving an answer.

I’m frankly baffled at your response to people accessing the material. You did put it ‘out there’ for people to actually use, did you not?

And tracking what, who and when someone downloaded something is a bit over the top. Again, I have to ask, why, if you really wanted to share?

      Another Falling Star…
The link to the resource was offered up by kc8gpd. It was placed on the ALPB page as a web resource as the post made it appear as free for all to see.

The link was to the library resource page. The items were not copied to the ALPB site as that could be construed as copyright infringement.

      I will remove it immediately.

UPDATE: The link no longer accesses the K-ROCKS Forum library.
