News Confused

June 21, 2011 by Carl Blare

KDX does not subscribe to FSN (Feature Story News) because of lacking a news budget, but this morning I decided to sample the news to see how FSN was doing. The headlines or bulletin or whatever I had told of “the worst tornados in North Carolina history.” Wow, I thought. And an hour later I was telling the butheress at Save-So-Much about the bad storms in N.C.

But now I think that news was months old and the “update” I downloaded was beyond its shelf-life.

If FSN is still in business, why would they have an old newscast still posted?

I’m thinking maybe someone here is a subscriber and knows the inside deal.

I use FSN news for Artisan
I use FSN news for Artisan Radio, and the ‘live’ download is pretty up to date. I suspect that you downloaded a sample, which, unless it was updated daily, would always be woefully out of date. It’s probably just there to give you a flavour of what they do.

And generally, I find their news as accurate and up to date as any local station I listen to. The only downer is that from about late afternoon Friday to late afternoon Sunday, they go into The Week in Review mode, and no updates are posted during that time. But for the price (a few dollars a month), you can’t beat it.

      Who pays for FSN?
      Whoa whoa wait a minute.

Who in the heck pays for FSN?

I’ve been an FSN affiliate for 3 years and have never had to pay A dime.

When did they start making you pay?

      But aside from that,
I’ve found FSN to be a good reliable News Service.
