Morning Drive

There is a little known reason why KDX part 15 radio station does not start broadcasting until 10 in the morning. It does not mean that the DJ is sleeping late.

The reason KDX is silent in the early hours is for the peace, tranquility and refreshment of natural silence, following the great restoration of a good night’s sleep.

But the story really begins the night before. We become so ladened and weighed down by the many experiences, thoughts and worries accumulated throughout the day, that we crumble into the “I give up” fetal position of sound asleep, where dreams get busy and rearrange the brain furniture so that we can awake in reset mode, fresh again, ready for reality.

But there’s an ugly trap waiting and cajoling at us named “drive time radio” and if we let it in, it immediately undoes the entire night of dreaming and instantly fills our head with all the chatter and bother that took us down the night before. By 10 AM we would willingly go into foreclosure, leave the kids off with child protective services, release the pets, and abandon the career if only we could take a long, long nap.

Drive time radio is short for drive-me-crazy radio, or, drive-by radio as in drive-by shooting.

Have no part of it. Refuse. Write your representative. Put a stop to it.

If you must transmit in the early hours, play long recordings of the forest or perhaps a gentle brook bubbling just slightly. Dead carrier is good.

One last thing. Disconnect the phone. Make people hang on to their problems until a decent hour.

      Decent Timing
      Hello Mr. RFB.

I notice that you were considerate to place your answer at the polite time of 11:49 AM. Many thanks.

        Waves Crashing On The Beach
Somewhere, years ago, a 100 watt
        community station that nobody
listened to – for whatever reason –
        got an idea.

So all night long, the station just
played waves crashing on the beach.

Suddenly, the word got around and there
were lots of listeners. At night long.

And the listeners were either relaxing
to the sound of the waves, of just using
the gentle sounds to fall asleep.

        Pretty cool, huh?

          There You Go
I mean, that’s what I’ve been trying to say. Stations can take radical turns of direction to give something interesting to the masses.

Instead, look what we get. Ah, well, the radio is turned off. I’m not getting anything. But it’s good! The best nothing I’ve ever heard!

            The Morning Caw!
Being a bird, only the early birds get the worms, and as such Morning Programming starts at 5am down here in Crow Land.
But do I do this show? NO WAY! Being a bird that likes to sleep, I have others do it for me.

American Sunrise Radio Handles 5-6, it informs innocent listeners of news and whatnot.
6-9 is handled by Big Bob and his Lane of Memories, unbeknownst listeners are serenaded by the Greatest hits of the 50s 60s and 70s.

            I catch em early! Caw!

I should’ve said it all in either future tense or past tense!

Either way, Great Bend Here we come!

When the crow comes back on…
        I’m going to have to
        listen to those morning
        shows!

        Good luck in the move.

        Be safe.
