Holidays

November 24, 2011 by jpjanze

Once again the ever revolving cycle brings us all to another season of rushing around more so than we do any other time, the big camp-out in front of the stores waiting for the Black Friday opening, the overloaded dinner plates and stomachs, and who could not include the weekend long specials and marathons and sports telecasts.

During this upcoming month long mayhem, and into the New Year, as your rushing about, camping out, stuffing out and vegging out, take a few minutes and look around. Smile upon your fellow mankind and wish them a Happy Holiday. Look and feel good inside so that it shows outside and maybe that might make another smile and feel good too.

Help those who have been forced into situations due to bad decisions made by those who we thought we could trust. Show others that the spirit and good nature of what this day of giving thanks really means, and show others that even when times are rough, even when our own future’s are uncertain, that coming together and helping each other out is our way to freeing all of us from the total collapse that is inevitable. Working together, we are stronger together.

Help yourself by taking that extra time to get home for the holidays. Soak in the minutes and seconds and cherish them as they will never come again. Hold on to those moments and place them close to the heart. Before you know it, those moments will be long in the past and it is those moments that are well worth remembering.

I will be taking the next month…maybe more..off and away from the stations, studio, computers, everything. I have set up my automation to run for the entire time as I have the previous years so the stations will continue to operate by themselves.

After 334 days of long hours and considerable investment both financially and emotionally, a good 30 plus day vacation is warranted.

I want to take this time to wish everyone and their families and friends a joyful, fun and SAFE holiday season!

Now…where is my overloaded plate and slice of pumpkin pie! YUM! 🙂

    Raising the Cup
Well now, Mister RF Burns, for being over-booked, super-busy, and stretched thin in so many ways, you have certainly found the time to help everyone here at part15.us with our many never ending questions about everything from carrier current to computer security. You, sir, are what holidays are all about.

Lets have a toast to RF Burns, a true radio man of the 21st century!

Happy Thanksgiving TO All! And enjoy your Vacation RFB!
As for me, while I wait for the Food to get done and guests to arrive, I’m watching the VU Meters bob and wiggle with the endless Rock & Roll tunes.

while Jim from kqro was waiting for guest to arrive at the studios in McKinney, i had to Drive 2 hours to Mt. Pleasant Texas to my grandmother’s house being smushed by my sister to the left and a big car seat holding her kid to the right of me in a KIA sorrento which was a beating for 2 hours there and back to good ole Sherman! Preparations
My holiday tree has been tied to the top of the car throughout the year and this will be the year I untie it and go on with preparations.

My fave holiday is The Winter Solstice, this year on Thursday, December 22 at 5:30 U.T.C., which is 11:30 P.M. C.S.T., almost Dec. 23.

It will be the shortest day and longest night of the year.

For a brief moment the earth will reach the tip of the egg-shaped elliptical orbit and hover in minimum declination as it makes a U-turn, then to speed on the fast-track back into the sweltering summer months. Every day will become longer by 1-minute-more light.

We ban christmas because Jesus never attends birthday parties and we can take a hint.

By “new years day” the year will already be 10-extra minutes of sunlight, the “glaring” error in our Gregorian calendar, scribbled by monks in the wine cellars of the early church.

On The Solstice KDX will throw a major radio event and the local government has already stocked-up on pepper spray and wrist-cuffs.

What is your station preparing for?
