Brainwaves are at the ideal when heatwaves are confined to a narrow range between 66-degrees and 88-degrees Fahrenheit.
Heatwaves in the hundreds tend to distort brainwaves in such a way that thoughts are full of noise.
I was thinking that some braintank whiz at FCC might think, “We could plant an agent on the part 15 hobby sites whose job would be to issue plenty of warnings. That might cut down on all these field inspections in the hot sun. Our guy wouldn’t be a whistle-blower, he would be the guy who listened for whistles.”
That thought was like a mirage on the hot pavement.
More Heat Waves
Sitting at the desk, conserving energy, I needed the roll of blue tape.
I could see it, 15-feet away on top of a carton. To preserve energy, I decided to use mental will power to levitate the blue tape and have it float right into my hands.
My gestures raised the roll about a foot into the air, then I began pulling it toward me with careful concentration.
It traveled about two feet in my direction, then plunged to the floor and rolled under the furniture.
Oh, drat. I had to get up and go get it.

(If you haven’t seen “The Day The Earth
Stood Still,” you won’t know what
those words mean.
And as for “The Power…”
It didn’t come out quite right, but I
still have a sort of affection for the
flick.
Some guy in a scientific think tank
is causing people to see things that
are incorrect, people are dying by
remote control from somebody
else’s mind a long distance away,
that sort of thing. They are also
forgetting things they used to know,
and photographs they are looking at
can’t be seen any more – the photographs
are blurry.
Some guy walks into his office through a
front door, “The Power” starts up, and he
tries to get away from the office, and when
he goes back to the office doorway, it is
just a wall.
When “The Power” is happening, a lot
of the time you start hearing a heart
beat, and then this weird music starts
up from a zither, or something.
1967??? I’ll have to look it up. This could
have been a mind blowing block buster,
but it sort of missed the mark.
Oh yeah, there was some levitation in the
movie too, which made me think of it.

After Heat Waves
The day’s heat waves have subsided. That’s a kind of sandwich they sell at the deli.
Bruce, I shall look for “The Power” at my branch library. George Hamilton is ok with me because he was always draped with starlets on every arm. He had more arms than you’d expect.
Unfortunately I cannot home in on your duct tape, because there are hundreds of thousands of rolls of duct tape the farther out you look. If they were all levitated the population might think something was up. It could end up on Art Bell.
Just don’t have a long ground lead, you might get a lecture.

The power is very hard to find and hard
to watch because they didn’t quite do it
right, but the ideas were good. There
were other movies and TV shows that
had done this before. But “The Power” had
a different twist in the plot.
I still think it was cool. My wife watched it
with me once years ago when it came on
some cable channel. She thought it was “OK.”
She’s not a Sci Fi buff, so an “OK” rating from
her is pretty good.
Oh, the weird music was from a hammer dulcimer.
That’s what it was. Once you heard that haunting
music, it found a permanent place in your brain.

There Are Times
There are times when I wish I was communicating with part 15 wives rather than the guys, but that’s the heat speaking.
It’s not personal.
Do we have any part 15 stations in Colorado in those monstrous fires? Hope everyone makes it.
That is one emergency where part 15 radio couldn’t do anything except yell, “Run!”
I wish we had some heat where
I wish we had some heat where I live. In the Pacific Northwest (Canadian side) we’ve had a cool, wet entire spring and start of summer. In spite of that, I haven’t heard of any investigations in this area (perhaps Industry Canada inspectors don’t like the rain).
I know from my point of view there’s nothing more miserable than being on a rooftop attempting to tune a Part 15 transmitter when you’re cold and wet.
One More Miserable Thing
There’s one step more misery if you are cold and wet, and that is the wind blowing.
Not only will the wind increase the discomfort, it will try very hard to wreck whatever you are trying to fix.
Then if you chase the wind, it will lead you right over the edge and you’ll hear it howling with laughter as you go over.
We have too much heat in Cincinnati
It got up to 102 degrees here today. Also, we haven’t had rain in a few weeks. The NWS has issued a red flag warning for our area.
I think we need to find a way to trade weather with Artisan Radio. We need lots of rain and cooler weather.
Pipelines
They always talk about gas pipelines and oil pipelines, but I always thought they should have an Antarctic Pipeline, pushing tons of frigid air during summer in the U.S.
In the winter we would switch to the Sahara Desert Pipeline with hot air coming where we need it and when we need it.
Have we ever talked about radio pipelines? How far does a radio signal travel in a pipeline?
Creating Jobs

How about a pipeline delivering much needed water to the drought areas and to all these wildfires they keep letting burn and fouling up the air we breathe.
Some 30 years ago there was a group proposing just such a pipeline that would have started a whole new industry in water purification and supply. They proposed a pipeline from the north as well as piping sea water to purification plants.
Wow, imagine what kind of economic boost that would have been. The excuse why it was not done…would cost too much.
Ya well look at how much it is costing everyone without it!
Heat waves, smoke waves, foul stench toxic air, chemical waste dumped into the oceans and polluting ground water tables, yep everything is fine hunky dorey in the good ol land of the ????.

Artisan Radio is located near
Artisan Radio is located near Vancouver, BC, just north of Seattle and just across the U.S. border. We get rain in the winter, rain in the spring, rain in the fall, and this year, rain during summer as well. We’ve just started to get the sun, with 70-80 degree weather. We’ll probably have a few months of this, and it will be back to the rain.
Then again, you don’t have to shovel the rain. And it is green and beautiful here pretty much all year round.
But don’t tell anybody else that. It’s supposed to be a secret.
