Earth Resonance

March 30, 2011 by Carl Blare

Where better to ask about the resonant frequency of the earth. I first learned about the earth’s natural resonant frequency (if the earth were rung like a bell) on a spectrum chart at a university. The number was the lowest number on the chart, even below brain wave frequencies, was less than 1Hz (ELF- Extra Low Frequency), and was a fractional number. But since seeing that chart there’s never again been any place where the earth resonance can be found.

What is found now is a different phenomena called “Schumann Resonance,” which describes the natural resonance in the wave guide existing in atmosphere between the earth surface and the ionosphere, with a center frequency of 7.83Hz and a bandwidth of 3 – 69Hz.

After asking reference librarians and many online searches, we come now to the brain trust here at part15.us.

What is the resonant frequency of the earth?

    Schumann Resonances
“Schumann Resonances” were initially mathematics generated extrapolations to determine lightning activity on earth and other heavenly bodies. These resonances occur when the 2000 lightning storms occurring on the earth, at any one time, produce around 50 strikes per second in the earth’s atmosphere. The energy is then ducted around the earth between the surface of the planet and the ionosphere. Variations in the “duct” resonances can be caused by solar perturbations or disfigurement of the lower ionosphere by a variety of factors. Anecdotal evidence is in process of being produced to either confirm or put aside the mathematical model developed in the 1950’s.

Nikola Tesla was the first to actually discover these very low frequency waves and that they had the capacity to penetrate the earth’s crust. As such scientists today are attempting to use the Schumann Resonances to determine the likely-hood of earth quakes.

If after considering all this, you hear strains of organ music in the background, you are becoming a part of the mystery.

      Science of Imagination
Mystery is right. I went into a Schumann spell reading that link which beautifully combines science with imagination, and I hear also the suggestion that our brain is a part 15 low power device floating somewhere above ground in the upper turret of our body antennas.

That organ piece is actually named “The Strain” Fugue.

But at the end of the day, what is the resonant frequency of the earth?

“….what is the resonant frequency of the earth?”
According to the sources I read, the earth’s resonance occurs at 7.63 Hz, and possibly as many as 4 or 5 others.
