@richpowers No, the new ones aren't lithium as you are thinking.
Not the same and safe. doesn't heat up or catch fire and it's got a battery protection management. These fully charge in 1 hour from AC and in a couple of hours with solar.
4 times the charge/discharge cycles.
Well the mini pc came in and I'm already worried. It was packaged well enough (well there was cardboard box taped around it and inside a padded bag) but the first thing I notice is something rattling inside. Sounds like it could be a stray scew.. or worse a small component of some kind. Been searching my boat the past hour trying to find my tiny screwdriver set - I know its here, used it two months ago and never took it off the boat! But its hiding.
I hope it's nothing. Haven't tried to power it yet, want to determine what's loose in there first. Hope it's not a real issue... I did email the seller though.. probably should of waited but the rattle makes me anxious.
@richpowers Sorry to hear this. At least Ebay has a good guarantee that you get what was described you get money back if seller won't.
But the thing is in your case it will cost the $30 you paid to send back(maybe Ebay covers shipping back?). Did the seller say in description fully working and tested?
But to be honest I didn't want to say anything but $30 only for this I thought there had to be a catch. Sometimes these sellers just pick these things up from somewhere and go by what someone else says.
They are $400 give or take new from Amazon.com
Hope it does work!
@mark I communicated with him before purchasing, his listing aren't very descriptive he said they all came from working pulls (he sells others). No power brick included and his disclaimer says:
"If for any reason you are not satisfied or receive an item DOA (Dead On Arrival or Damaged In Transit) Please contact me and allow me the chance to resolve the issue."
I hate sending things back, it's such a hassle as it usually involves going town. In fact, I very rarely have ever returned anything, but then again it's been very rare that I've had issues with items from ebay.
Gotta find my mini screwdrivers or head to Chu's dept store here on the island
Oh, it shouldn't cost more than $5 to ship, it's about twice the size of a pack of cigarettes. It was $38 OBO with free shipping, I offered $28 and he countered $30 - So that was my grand total.
Wish I hadn't tried so hard to save a dollar, I should have gone for one of the many available in the $50 range that have sellers who tested them extensively and tell you every little flaw.
Stupid of me. All to save $20.. it's a lesson I never seem to learn... but then again, usually theres no problem.
These same Minis Gn34 mini-pc are presently sold on Amazon (refurbs) for $119 But there are plenty lots of mini PC's on ebay for $50-$60 range

HBESTORE Laptop 10.1Inch Windows11 OS with Intel N4020 Processor,Built-in Camera, WiFi,HDMI,Portable Small Computer.Mini Laptop with Bag,Mouse Suitable for Learning and Entertainment. (Iron Gray)
- @mark Thanks for the heads up, but $200;more than I can spend. I was going to get a cheap laptop (ebay)but wanted something very low power draw as its probably going to be running 24/7 like I use to. The Gn34 is well know for above a average performance using very minimal power draw. Takes no space at all, can easily protect it from potential condensation issues but most of all the ultra low power was the deciding factor.
