Hello Johny: Here is today's Zara question (or anyone who has an answer).
All of a sudden my Playlist is running fast, almost at Donald Duck speed.
How do I get it back to normal?
Carl, I know exactly what you are referring too. Salamandra can do this too. It's the computer.
When it flies through the playlist it doesn't stop at any track, right?
If you have a newer computer, Windows 10 or 11, but a newer computer within 2 years.... when you connect the audio cable to the headphone line out to go to whatever like the processor, you have to have the cable plugged into the jack *first*, before you start Zara. You can't have Zara running and then plug in the audio cable or it goes "haywire".
So exit Zara, plug in the audio cable to the computer, make sure that in the sound settings you are set to speakers/headphones and allow other apps to control your sound, then after the audio cable is plugged in the computer then start Zara. But if you are using the computer speakers only it will be ok till you plug in the audio jack.
Before a couple of years ago this didn't matter. In Salamandra there are also sound settings in the menu and they have to be set right also.
Also Johny C told me that Zara doesn't work right with Windows 10 or 11. I was having some other issues than this and made the switch to Salamandra. There were some updates that caused some problems.
Zara does this if I don't have an audio interface plugged into the laptop that is running the automation, and the internal sound isn't enabled. In other words, if there is no sound interface for the audio to play through, Zara will run at breakneck speed.
Carl a running fast playlist is because Zara can not find the audio files in your playlist. This can happen if you move the files or if you are using a usb hard drive or stick with the files on and have unplugged and when you have plugged it back in it dosnt have the same drive letter. If your audio card is missing or changed from what you have set in Zara, it will just crash at startup. Salamadra will do the same with the playlist with missing files, but if a sound card for Salamandra is missing it will still play with no output sound.
