For years I have been annoyed by a nearby AM transmitter, 1-mile from here, which totally messed up my copper-pair phone line with continual 'Word of the Lord' repetition, screwed up my DSL internet, and put a distorted buzz on its harmonic at 1700 kHz. Finally the station has a construction permit to move to a trailer park location 7-miles away on the other side of the river in Illinois. It's 850 Khz 5 kW signal will be reduced to 3,800 kW. One thing they preached has worked: I prayed for this day.
Talk about not causing interference, but if you were doing that the FCC would be after you in a flash.
The excitement over the forthcoming availability of 1700 kHz for use by KDX Worldround Radio has got me dreaming about new part 15 goodies and I have been comparison shopping among the certified AM transmitters with a hankering to purchase one of them.
The people and companies that invest in developing part 15 gear very much deserve all the support we can give them, since it's kind of a rare category that we depend on.
We already have and are delighted by the Chez Procaster and could do with another one.
Or, the Hamilton Rangemaster offers a whole other experience and it would be a big top circus to have one sitting here with my hands all over it.
It doesn't end there. The Wayne Miller Grain Industries transmitter is a big mystery since no one seems to have one and there are no YouTube videos nor reviews about it.
And the choice isn't limited to transmitters. There's
The Schlockwood 300 AM Frequency/Modulation Monitor
What's in your wallet?
@carl-blare I Have both Schlockwood 200 processor and 300 Modulation monitor. I'm happy with both. I have both transmitters also. Procaster and Rangemaster.
I use the Schlockwood 200 for FM also and it works fine. Best part 15 processor there is. The Sean Cuthbert compressor is second in my opinion and also does separate 3 band compression and EQ.
Carl is right on about the transmitter makers. It is not a living and done mainly as a hobby side venture. Without them there would be no part 15.
