Couldn't quite figure out what going on when I browsed over to the am1000rangemaster.com website. It's been awhile since I've been there, so the first thing that struck me was the site had been redesigned. I went to the about page, which contains only a single paragraph "Mission Statement" followed by an offer to"
"Start you own Radio Station! With Legal Part 15 AM PURCHASE A AM1000C"
I click the link and reach a page telling me: "This page doesn't seem to exist.
It looks like the link pointing here was faulty. Maybe try searching?"
Several other links dont work either, and those that do just kind of take on a circle of sorts.
What the heck is going on here? Then I notice something even more peculiar; all the pages show a quite predominant "Copyright © 2024 Planet Earth Store"
Planet Earth Store? - Has Keith started some kind of new company?
A quick google search for "Planet Earth Store" leads me a couple places. Top result and my first stop leads me to Github: https://github.com/IhfazAlam/Planet-Earth-Store
"Welcome to Planet Earth Store! 🌍 Discover...eco-friendly products.. .. zero-waste essentials, .. minimize environmental impact. ....preserve the natural wonders of Earth...Shop guilt-free ..honors sustainability... Etc. Etc. Ect....Explore Planet Earth Store today and be a part of the solution for a greener tomorrow."
Ah! So perhaps the Keith and his Hamilton Rangemaster product has joined in as participants of some environmental movement of some kind, or maybe a cult.
A return to google turns up more Planet Earth Store sites.. Finally I realized what is going on here...
Planet Earth Store is nothing more than a free website template! Evidently Keith tried to implemented it for the Hamiliton Rangemaster site and couldn't figure out what he was doing, thus leaving his site in a a bit of a usless lump of disarray.
At least that's what appears to have happened. Dont know how long it's been like that, but he needs to get on the ball!
That appears to solve that mystery and concludes my adventure for the day.
I noticed the missing links and generally increased disorder of Keith's website too. It would never have won an award for graphic design but in the past, I could at least find my way around it without too much trouble. Now though, it is not only not a good advertisement for the product, to my mind it is actually a disincentive to purchase. It's a shame, because the Rangemaster is a high quality transmitter, at an equally "high quality" price. A website to represent and explain the product doesn't need to be pretty, but it should at least be easy to read and fully functional.
I hope this isn't an indication that Keith is slowing down in his commitment to the business. I really like my Rangemaster, and plan to keep it for as long as I'm around.
Thought the exact same thing. I'm going to email him a link to this thread
@richpowers I'm sure he's well aware of the situation Rich. He's a smart feller.
- @rugster Yeah, but he might not know that everyone else knows it too. Makes a difference.
