Came across this on Kijiji
Looks like a Ramsey clone by a different company but not sure. Most likely not certified to use here but asked for some info. anyway.
At 300 feet at least they're trying to stay Within part 15 levels but then again it could be another mock transmitter and it could be well over the limit.
The only way to find out if this thing even this close to the legal field strength would be to have someone like Tim in Bovey check to see if this thing is even close to Legal.
For $35 bucks I wouldn't expect much power-wise from this gem. My guess is that if it's over the limit it would be stretch to get a FCC visit. And besides it's made in Canada and we all know all Canadians are rule followers. 🙂
" all Canadians are rule followers" HaHa!
I don't know about that, but pirate radio is rare here and it is news worthy if it ever happens. You get an interview and a write up in the paper at least.
This transmitter is being sold by someone in Toronto(my city) and looks just like a rebranded Ramsey but looked up the manufacturer JBT and couldn't see this item but seemed to be an audio video company based in Australia.
Asked the seller if this was from a kit, any certification which I doubt, but if as stated only goes 300ft with attached antenna it is well within BETS-1 field strength limits.
Didn't get an answer back from the seller but he states it as new.
Definitely not Chinese.
May contact seller and go take a look to see for myself what this is. The Ramsey FM 25B was 25 mW power and that would be WAY more that 300ft even with attached antenna if that was the case here. The Ramsey also had a output adjust that could take it down to nothing. Only way to find out about this is to see it as the seller may not know himself. Would like to know where he got it.
