Nice may have been a part 15 FM station running a Whole Housse FM Transmitter 3.0 or Decade.
Yesterday I found a 3rd Part 15 operator in my tiny town of 6,000. He was running synced Christmas lights on 88.1. I let him shake my grimey mitt and introduced myself. He did not know that he was two blocks from the second Part 15 operator who runs OTR All The Time. ๐ He was going to take his stuff down after Christmas. I suggested that he leave the radio transmitter up and running and play what he wants. He even has a nice digital sign that says Tune to 88.1 FM in his yard. Think of this: 2 FM Part 15's and 1 AM Part 15. This could be the start of a movement in West Central Florida.
I would like a digital sign that says tune - 100.1 for progressive rock and classic rock. How much are those signs and where can you get them? Let me know how effective that is for you.
For an outdoor digital sign you would probally pay a handsom price. But you could get a handsome full color outdoor sign with any design you can imagine printed on it and shipped for a little bit of nothing.
A company I've used numerous times for printing jobs is Uprint, best prices, excellent products, fast turn over.. I just checked, and you don't have to buy quanity on yard signs.. "Our yard signs are made of durable corrugated plastic boards built to withstand exposure to water or weather variations.."
You can buy just 1 sign if you want, price goes down for each additional sign.. You upload your design, and you'll have it within a week.
For example: 1 sign, printed on one side, full color, text, images, whatever, shipped free..
SIZES:
12 x 18 =$16.85
12 x 24 =$19.30
18 x 24 =$24.20
6 x 24 = $14.40
Printing on both sides, or custom sizes cost more.

I've used them for small and large printing jobs more times than I can count over the last 10-15 years, and it's always been proffesional quality products received. And you cant beat their prices.
OK... As soon as I posted that I knew I was wrong on the free shipping, so I just checked on that..

You are now chatting with 'Rheena'
Rheena: Hi Rich. ๐
Rheena: Welcome to UPrinting. How may I help you today?
Rich: What is the shipping cost on small quantities of yard signs?
Rich: Hi Rheena
Rheena: I'd be happy to check it for you.
Rheena: May I know the size, qty and shipping zip code please?
Rich: I mean like 2 signs 12x18 zip 31328
Rich: Sorry , make that 18x24
Rheena: Thanks. One moment please.
Rich: or if there's a difference, give me both prices
Rheena: Sure thing. Estimated shipping cost will be:
Rheena: Home Delivery - $ 19.08
Rheena: FedEx 2Day - $ 61.95
Rheena: FedEx Standard Overnight - $ 105.29
Rheena: That is for 2pieces of the same design for 18x24" yard sign.
Rich: And how much does the shipping go down on like maybe 10 signs?
Rheena: If for 10pcs, it will be estimated shipping cost:
Rheena: It will be the same though. No price change.
Rich: Thanks Rheena, That's all I need to know right now.. Happy New Year!

So add about $20 to the prices I quoted above, thus a 12x18 sign would cost about $36, but no additional shipping cost on more signs (and cost per sign goes down, the cost is always in the front, more signs=less cost).
Still an excellent value for a full color printed yard sign with your custom design on it!
If somebody came to me and wanted some yard signs, I tack on at least $75 to design it, then ship it to Uprint for the production.
If somebody here wanted me to design their station sign, I wouldn't charge them anything, and would just email the design to them (or upload it to dropbox for them to download) a you would upload to Uprint yourself.
(Just my way of showing appreciation to the part15 community)
Carl, I am guilty of hijacking your thread.. And you are Kay Dee Hex, possibly a tran?
OMG
I always wanted to try something similar to get my station known in the immediate neighborhood. Where I am moving to I am sure they are not going to allow a big yard sign. I might getaway with a window sign. I will also C if they have some sort of clipboard in the laundry room that allows for community postings. If so I could post about the neighborhood radio station. I could have done this in Elizabeth City,NC but my Stepson I lived with was very unsupportive of it. Now it's just my wife and I so things should be different.
I don't know what the others use for FM. I use a detuned Ramsey for yardcasting and a Rangemaster 1000 for AM.
