Tunein can get a bit weird, an email will always solve the problem though.

Funny Album Rock gets mentioned as a rare format, every AOR (thats the real name) station went Classic Rock decades ago. Classic Rock IS AOR(Granted with a much smaller playlist), "Mainstream Rock" is the modern day equivalent format. Ironically the local Mainstream Rocker went full out classic rock last year.

MOR is the likely Rarest, followed by Polka, Adult Standards, Smooth Jazz, ect. Basically where the audience is literally almost dead.

Okay screw it, my station was called WFPN AOR or WFPN for short.

Now the trolls and can have fun.

My station is an album rock station also known as an Album Orientated Rock station, since most of my music (98%) is off of vinyl records.

Bruce.

I've used call letters on pretty much every station I've done Mr. Bruce, sorry you've had so much hassle with yours. I've done my fair share of Rocker formats as well (it is my favorite genre after all). Heck I still do a Classic Rocker and oldies station.

Here is the contents of the email they sent me.

Thank you for submitting information to TuneIn.

Unfortunately, these changes could not be accepted:

Name:  WFPN AOR

Frequency: 107.1

CallSign: WFPN

Slogan: All Rock Music 24 Hours A Day 7 Days A Week

Band: FM

Description: A Rock 'N' Roll Station That Plays All Types of Rock Music, With A Touch of Other Genres to Add More Varity To Your Listening Experience.

WebUrl: http://wfpnradio.wix.com/wfpn-radio

City: Norwich

State: Connecticut

CountryId: United States

LanguageId: English

Email: [email protected]

NewStreamSummary: http://s25.myradiostream.com:9672/

My previous request was listed as an "internet" station only, but they mentioned the websites listed above showed a 107.1 in the logo and so I should list it as an FM station, which I did and again it was rejected.

I suppose they look at it as if I am masquerading as an FCC licensed FM radio station, to which I am not, obviously. I'm not claiming to be such.

Bruce.

I managed to get on TuneIn a few years ago - it then disappeared and I wasn never able to get it back on.  They seem oriented to over-the-air stations that also have a stream.

Try Reciva, Vtuner & others.  If you use Icecast (i.e., have your own server), you're automatically placed in their directory as well.  I've gotten most of my random listeners through Reciva.

MrBruce I'm beginning to see what's going on.

I think you take turn-downs and rejections too seriously.

Take for example my 5% success rate in dating lovely women.

Upon seeing an attractive woman I immediately suggest lunch. When she says something like "I'm seeing another man" or "I'm married" or "I prefer women", I take that to mean that we have established communication.

Within days I ask whether she prefers late morning or early afternoon for lunch, and she'll need to remind me that we have no lunch plans, or, she might admit that late morning is appealing but she'll be out of town. What I notice is that she forgot having made her earlier excuse and is now making a different excuse. To me this is "getting somewhere".

After awhile she might use words like "stalker" or "restraining order", at which time I announce that I'm late for a meeting with a banker, but hand her a business card reading "Carl Blare - Group Owner Worldround Radio Stations - Phone #", adding, as I walk away, "If you'd ever like to talk."

In other words, being turned down is a response, we all want one.

mr. Bruce I would not have mentioned anything about FM in your request to be entered into TuneIn Radio.   here is the here is the reason,  you mention dealing you mentioned dealing with a certain Troll and how you were being accused of being a pirate.

Imagine that if you will x 1000. Here's why they will see that the call sign you have on your station is not listed in the FCC database.   you have him you have ham operators who like to play radio Sheriff. So immediately they're going to turn that one right into the FCC.  it's just asking to be visited by the FCC even if you don't have a transmitter. They will be monitoring you like a hawk.

you could call you could call your station Wii play find music. Or anything other than WFPN.   you also need to you also need to change your logo. Notice how my logo does not mention a call sign. Neither does my website for my station.

if they want to know I'm part 15 they would have had to hurt me on am or FM.

I know I I know I spend lots of time on my station and the website,  but I might have been able to help you get lifted.

the websites the websites that Mighty 1650 had mentioned is a good start. Plus what I do is Google internet radio and submit your station. This gives you websites that are looking 4 station submissions.

now I need now I need to discuss the difference between classic hits and album Rock.   a classic hits station will only play the hits maybe a classic hits station will only play the hits maybe two or three songs that are different from an artist. For example The Cars -  just what just what I needed or my best friend's girlfriend. But  try and request something try and request something like , looking for love by The Cars and see what happens. Chances are the DJ would say "Huhh?"   now take another band like yes and I can guarantee you if you requested America the yes version  it would never be played on these wannabe album Rock stations.

I could go on and on about what real album rock is but another example would be something like Rush cygnus X-1 by Rush or Iron Butterfly Inna Godda Davida.   it goes way deeper it goes way deeper than that even but I hope that you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.

Good God Thelegacy I almost thought your stylus (phonograph needle) was stuck on a few of those lines above. Note the lines where you repeated the same words in a row twice.

See what I mean, too much politics involved in this hobby, its like being a low life drug dealer when you play with this stuff. It's legal, then again it isn't legal. No two people out there are going to agree. One will say it is and another will argue it isn't. It's like part 15 is drug paraphernalia it's okay to own it, but using it in certain manners, makes it illegal to use or own. Think about that.

Thelegacy, my original request did not ask to be listed as an FM station.

This is the original request:

Hello,

Thank you for submitting information to TuneIn.

Unfortunately, these changes could not be accepted:

Name: WFPN AOR

Slogan: All Rock Music 24 Hours A Day 7 Days A Week

Band: Stream

Description: A Rock 'N' Roll Station That Plays All Types of Rock Music, With A Touch of Other Genres to Add More Varity To Your Listening Experience.

WebUrl: http://wfpnradio.wix.com/wfpn-radio

CountryId: United States

LanguageId: English

Email: [email protected]

NewStreamSummary: http://s25.myradiostream.com:9672/

Note it says STREAM not FM or AM next to BAND.

When I emailed them back, as to why the request was rejected this is what was emailed back to me.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

The issue with your submission is that you submitted this station as an internet only station while your website shows a frequency.

Please resubmit your application as an FM station and be sure to include your frequency (107.1).

Let me know if you have any questions.

End of email.

I resubmitted a new request changing STREAM to FM and that was also rejected.

I have not replied back as why this one was rejected, but I am sure it has something to do with my WFPN calls not being FCC issued, yet the FCC says we can call our stations what we want as long as we do not steal a licensed station's legally assigned call letters. WFPN is not assigned to any broadcast station. Neither is WFPN AOR.

Also, I am NOT currently active in any type of over the air broadcasting, I am an Internet only station. I do not have any transmitters for any type of over the air transmission in service or hooked up for that matter.

Perhaps, in the future, but, not now. What I do has nothing to do with the FCC until then.

Bruce.

Looking at what Part 15 is meant to be and another Hobby Radio service I do believe that a separate service is really the only way to fly with asking for more power.

I'm not going to go into all of that stuff here as there is a site meant for that as you can see in my signature.

Free speech and not beeing seen in Google searches as well as keeping want to be police out of semi private conversations we do have our speakeasy board as I'll call it.  Mighty 1650 I've thought about allowing you access as you seem to know your stuff.

@Mr. Bruce if you need to tell your story I think the speakeasy is the best way to do it and not be harassed by want to be police or FCC agents.  This way everyone will see an uncensored version of your thoughts.  That was the real reason for the Elite Sectioon over there.  Again I'm not bringing this up to start anything just to remind you Mr. Bruce there is a safe zone to talk where prying eyes can't harass you for anything you say.

That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Mr Bruce this is another listing web site that I have been listed on for years http://radiotuna.com/

It even has a custom webplayer you can put on your web site.

As for tunein, My station is listed there as RAG-FM with my station logo with the freq on it.

It stared out with why the FCC did not license LPFM 10. Sheesh. And for what it's worth, 1 watt will interfere with the 1st adjacent if one is close enough. Also, there is a 1/2 watt guy exactly 1 mile away and he's on a 200' hill with a Comet 15 feet above ground.  And yes on a car radio one can hear him albeit noisy.  Now in my house a decent portable the first adjacent 30 miles away wipes him out. We are talking his ability to deliver a 60 dBuV to penetrate walls.  At a mile he does not get it done.

How does post morph into getting listed on some web site?

MrBruce Said:

John, sorry about that, I lost track as to which thread I was in and posted stuff related to tunein. I realize now which thread this IS and thought I was posting to another thread I had been viewing on this site at the same time. I accidently posted into this one by mistake. Sometimes it's not a good idea to multi-task on the same forum board having multible browser pages/threads open at the same time.

Bruce.

I and the other mods don't spend 24/7 here and can't "police" threads, nor do we want to. We can't clean up a messy thread which results from off topic posts.

I am politely requesting (for now) that when you post to a thread then stay on topic. If you have something to say which may be off topic then start a new thread.

I am also requesting that technical speculations (power, range, etc.) which relate to non existing Part 15 operating rules be voiced at the two sites referenced below where proposals to the FCC are being considered.

Here: http://classichits1630am.freeforums.net/

And here: http://http//the-initiative.boards.net/

This site promotes legal Part 15 operation and also supports efforts to change the rules but the purpose of going off site with such discussions was to get all the information together in one place (and now it appears, two) rather than having it scattered all over the place here and becoming impossible to follow. There is no harm in posting, as was done to start this thread, things of general interest to radio hobbyists.

Please help keep threads readable.

Neil
