I have known Charles.  And have worked with his Son Mark who is one of the finest broadcast engineers in the country, for nearly 30 years.

Good Book, and one of several he wrote.  He also has a great book about his experiences using his private pilots license in conjunction with his radio work.

Yes, both of the named engineers make appearances on This Week In Radio Tech, the weekly radio shows from

If you have some time to kill I can recommend Mark's webpage.

He doesn't have it laid out quite as well as I'd like -- you go from one page to another and the next has more good links that aren't in any sort of main directory, so it's easy to get lost.

Mark and his family have an amazing history in radio and engineering that go back an awfully long way. It's worth poking around just to see all the photos.

I've worked with mark for nearly 30 years. He's now "semi-retired" no longer doing any field work, but still doing some bench repairs.  A vast wealth of knowledge is in Mark's head!

Yes, he often tucks a book in when sending out orders, etc.

The other book his Dad wrote is "The Flying Broadcaster" "A modern day broadcaster tells of his house in the air broadcasting from his airplane 8064-B"

If you have interest in the grand ol' days of radio, and aviation, it's a great easy to read book.
