High quality digital can't be matched or beat, a "pure" CD sounds as amazing as it should. Rich has a good point that I agree with, its the record industry's fault. I'm not entirely sure why a digital medium needs so much compression.

Vinyl has a fantastic warmth that I love when applied to an all analog airchain.

It really does. I lost 3500 mostly Promo copies and 1500 mostly promo 45s in that cursed Florida house foreclosure that made me homeless. I had two Stanton STR8-100 turntables plus a QRK-12C with a Micro Trak 303 arm.

Not a clue where all that ended up...

My station WFPN Radio Norwich CT has a very large record album collection. How many? Good God, I haven't counted since the collection was at 3,786 LPs and that was, God I can't remember.

we have a large cassette tape collection as well. How many? Well it's been a while since I counted them.

CD collection, well maybe 100 or so of those.

45's? Good God haven't counted them lately either, however I bought a 1000 45s lot off of ebay a while ago and the collection was quite large even before that purchase.

One thing I do do is log all the tapes and LPs in Windows Notepad alphabetically, however, that does not help in keeping count of how many.

I have new and old 'new stock' records coming in all the time, mostly in the 33 1/3 variety, but 45's are always being brought in as well, of those are old new stock.

All I can tell you is the collection is building each week, that is why it is hard to keep count.

My station has the abilty to play any type of media, reel to reel, 8-track, cassette, CD and vinyl records. Except for 78 RPMs we can play anything you bring into the studio.

One thing my station does not do is download pirated music!!! We own the rights to everything we broadcast legally.

If I could add photos to this post I would, you'd be impressed with how many book cases I have that are filled with 33 1/3 and 45s!!

If you thumb through our facebook page, you can see some of the studio pictures showing some views of the studio.

Bruce.
