Ya, you guys have something going here with these ideas about giving mouth-to-mouth ressucitation to the AM dial.
Instead of making more limits such as mandating digital IBOC death buzzing for buzzards, open the whole thing up for development and experimentation.
Who is more eager and enthusiatic to start something fresh and interesting than the Part 15 stations? (that's a rhetorical question because everybody already knows the answer is "right on.")
LPAM is ready to get this medium wave band up and on its feet.
Rocknintyfiveseven: You really have some open frequencies in your area for FM. But if translators start merging to FM that all could change. I also see 89.7 as well. And as most part 15 operators that have a transmitter capable of that frequency it would be the first choice. I do think now is the best time to maybe do AM as well as FM for part 15 or something similar with more power. The question is who and how.
TheLegacy YOU are who.
The HOW will be with help from the ALPB, this website, and your tireless efforts to get the job done.
That is the way I'd like to make it happen. CAN WE DO IT?
I would argue that 107.9 Would be the best choice. Especially with the C Crane with that short antenna.
97.9 Is the best for car radios with whips.
I did a typo I meant 87.9 is the best frequency for part 15 and I saw it on Radio-Locator. 107.9 is way too close to the aircraft band and I would not transmit there. The highest I'd ever go would be like 107.5 and even that is something I may debate about on count of possible spurs. No I try to stay clear of the high end of that dial if your going to leave your house with FM.
To be fair, if the transmitter has been checked to be very clean and well built, you should be very safe transmitting at 107.7. I would stay away from 107.9 as well. But 107.7 should be safe enough.
