How does the AM transmitter made by Chris Cuff compare in range and quality to other transmitters?
it is very well designed. excellent quality audio. using it with antenna's that are part 15.219 compliant won't pass the stereo information. you'll only have seperation up to about 800hz. you need to use a good ground and a long wire with a tuner. when used that way the audio quality and range is every bit as good as a rangemaster or even a sstran. there are 20mw units floating around and chris now makes 100mw units. i have also had him entertaining the idea of upgrading the inputs to balanced +4dbu inputs to match broadcast grade equipment. oh the stereo sounds great when the tx is set up in carrier current configuration on the neutrals. and it will get decent range that way. use the lower end of the band for carrier current. I have one of these along with a CRL AM Stereo Processing Chain. I can attest to the quality of these units and they are indeed worth chris' asking price. probably even moreso than the hamilton is in relation to their cost.
