Hi all,

I have few questions about building tiny TV station using Ramsey TV6c device. I see lack of FCC Part 15 certified 100mW TV transmitters. I have read on FCC part 15 rules.

Hi all,

I have few questions about building tiny TV station using Ramsey TV6c device. I see lack of FCC Part 15 certified 100mW TV transmitters. I have read on FCC part 15 rules.

Can I operate TV transmitter (Ramsey TV6c) - using low VHF band (ch 1 or 2) or not permitted at all?

Anyone ever operated tiny (Part15?) TV station(s) elsewhere?

- Mike

My understanding of the rules, there is to be NO part 15 TV stations or otherwise in the tv bands.

If you live in a typical all-american environment where cable TV is king, I wouldn't worry about your TV transmitter signal. Nobody will even know it's there. Be especially comfortable after the mandated switch to digital TV coming soon.

Don't do it. ATSC is a fragile signal. if you are within shot of a cable tv headend especially if they have a yagi pointed in your direction you can cause big problems in which case you will be found.

Best place to set up your TV station is in a campground or RV resort, many still use antennas, and enjoy some local television. For this I have used a cable tv modulator fed into a 10 element Yagi, because most of the pick up antennas are within line of site the picture even at the farthest point in the park is clear.
Free Radio Berkeley has amps designed to be mated to a cable modulator up to 25 watts, 25 watts into a 10 element would lite up the place for a few miles, old movies and cartoons on DVD have no copyright protection and be fed right into the transmitter.
