Since this forum has a section for general discussion other than part 15 radio I have to go on this little rant after reading thelegacy's post about his wife getting and beating cancer.
While I was reading about what they had to go through and how they lost everything(financially ruined) and went to food banks for 5 YEARS!, I was sick reading this!!
Every time I hear something like this it just disgusts me more than I can explain.
How can the richest country in the world and "the greatest nation on earth" allow such things to happen?
The United States is constantly in everyones business all over the world yelling about human rights but what about at home in their own backyard where they won't even look after their own people! If you get sick through NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN, you are at the whims of insurance companies who don't care about you...just making money and not having to pay!
How can the "greatest nation on earth" not have any public health care and allow people to have LIFE RUINING MEDICAL BILLS because you get sick or have an accident?....God forbid you should get appendicitis and need to get care immediately and your worry is the $10,000 bill and how you can afford that!!
SHAME SHAME SHAME on the United States!! The greatest nation on earth? My ass!!! More important than trying to get the FCC to relax the part 15 rules for FM is trying to get health care in your country!! so these atrocities can't continue to happen.
To thelegacy....wish you all the best and hope things will be better in the future. You are a survivor! but you never should have had to have this happen.

Worst yet my Rich Greedy Stepmom should not had made Dad forget his flesh and Blood so she can go on vacations every month. To top it all off I was on my Dad's social security, and I was getting $900/Mo part mine and part the Adult Disabled Child benefits. Well my Stepmom had to collect Disibility herself and she got $500/Mo that was not good enough mind you and Dad's hard earned money she then had to go on social security and it took away my benefits I was getting (part of them). So I went from $900-500/Mo and $16 in Food Stamps and was expected to live on that. Yet she can sleep at night with good conscience. This is the type of stuff we need to stomp into the ground. However this forum is not about the wrongs a Stepmom can do to a Father's flesh and Blood. Its about Radio and the reason I even mentioned it in the first place was to demonstrate the fight my station had to go through more than any other Internet Station I know. We went through it all and didn't skip a beat though my Stepmom said "Kill the Station!", Stepson for a while said "Kill The Station your not Getting Paid!!", A friand of my Wife said "Kill The Station you need Food!!"(Never mind the fact they smoked their food money in tobacco), People said I'd not get help with it. My Wife was a Supporter and knew how much work I've put into it. She knew if we could only get on our feet and the Internet could only work right in this town we'd get plenty of listeners. I even had to deal with a Desktop computer with many issues for 2 /1/2 years till I got a Laptop from Elizabeth City Pawn in Elizabeth City, NC. I told them I desperately need a computer to run my station and they sold me a Toshiba Satellite C55-A 8 GB Ram, 500 GB HDD, Intel Celeron (Yea I know they ain't the Best) 64 Bit 1.80 Ghz for $175 which I barely had money for. I Jumped on it. Actually it came with 4GB Ram but a friend donated an 8GB memory chip and put it in for me so I would have enough RAM to run my station with the screen magnifier on as I am legally Blind. My Album Rock friends supported me more than my Stepmom ever would. They donated to the station some geve me $300 and that was one person it was once or twice during that yr but still. they didn't want to see my station die and knew that I'd keep this station on air till my cold rotting corpse in in the ground. Call it silly, call me insane, abnormal, Retarted, whatever I don't give a sh&t when others do drugs to make them happy I do Radio. Call me an FM Pirate don't care. I was even scoffed at by some when I said I'd rather be dead than to see my station go off and I'd do whatever it took to keep it on. I'd do anything to keep my Wife happy too and alive those are the two things I can count on is my lovely wife and my Station. And all else well it is what it is. I had to sit outside using public WiFi, Lost power for a few days in dead winter, but finally we are doing a little better and its because of folks who did care not my Stepmom for God's sake. You can say my Drug of choice is my Radio Station and I guess I'm an addict so sue me.
Kill the station. Where have I heard that before? I haven't had really major life problems like this yet, but when things have happened others in my life have said to knock off something I was doing, seeing it as useless, which is their opinon they think to be rightious on at the time when they see you're down, and come up strong to try to enforce it.
It could be things like getting turned down for a date, and someone in your life will step right up and make a flame about your hair, getting it cut or styled the way they think it should be, never mind that they never said anything about it before, but chose the time when you were seen as powerless. or you get a virus in the laptop and someone who doesn't have anything to do with your computer, at all, will spend the whole conversation upset and telling you not to play online games because they're full of viruses.
What if your hair is a source of pride about the way you look, and makes you happy, or games are something in your life that makes you happy, they don't think of that, they're takinga way a source of your happiness! Now if it was something like smoking I could see a stronger stand being taken. While it's true that online game downloads often have trash that will wreck your laptop.
Thing is, if the radio hobby and broadcasting is a source of strength, you have to find a way to keep it going. I can exactly see somebody telling me that keeping some kind of music style alive is a waste of time, but art should be preserved and have the opportunity to be heard, and someone put a whole lot of work in making classic and album rock under ground tracks, and I think teh commercial rock stations are trying to rewrite history by playing only a few tracks, like the other thousands of songs didn't even exist! They are never ever talked about, because if people knew, they'd request them and stations wouldn't want that. My rock station has a phone number, and if you call it any time you get voice mail that says to go to hit up their site, where they have facebook ant Twitter access to comment or reach the morning team. The morning team seems to be the only live people there, and if you call on their show you get involved in some kind of prank that they're doing.
I think that's tragic, and I feel like that I've been cheated by my radio.
Its why I started The Legacy on the Internet to start. Because of all the wanna be "Classic Rock" stations that just aren't True Classic Rock as far as when us Album Rock fans use to listen to. I can remember argueing with WMMQ in Lansing when they told me that the band Rush was not a legendary band What?? Who the hell are they kidding. We'll take 2112 for example, Hemespheres songs like The Trees, Working Man, 2112, amd more. I finally got them to realize that Rush was Classic Rock (Well Sort Of) so they would play Tom Soyer, In The Mood, New World Man, Working Man (Once In A While) but mostly he newer Rush. America is continueing to be watered Down as far as Classic Rock and what it truly was from 1967-1984 when things started to die off and go either Top 40, Rap, Speed Metal (no way was that what I call talent), and a little good stuff from the old Metallica. But its all the same ole stuff everyday and not one deep track on commercial Radio. So my station was created on an outrage against what corporate Radio is doing now. Just 2 weeks I desided to go FM o attract more local Internet Radio listeners. I know there is a few who have heard my station though they don't call the rockline from the FM side yet. The Internet side does get requests and we are finally getting more listeners. Its getting noticed that is half the ball game but once people hear the station they absolutely love it if they loved that type of music to begin with. Some may say "What is that?" but hopfully some of these tracks will open some minds again and people can realize there is more to Radio than Kid Rock and Guns N Roses.
Yes, you have to hold on to what gives you pleasure....if I move to a different place I will be looking to see where the transmitter will go before I think about the TV.

At least you have a better legal chance at FM range and at the second floor you have a good chance. You should be able to cover a few houses down. You can also do Internet Radio too.
