OK simple question the antenna switch on the back, it has a clear piece of plastic over it. I am wondering that if I change the antenna I have remove that before the switch will work, because it hardly moves to the right. It just doesn't look convincing that I am using an external antenna in the little it moves and the light doesn't come on in the front. I bought it on eBay and don't have a manual for it.
Yes, you have to remove the clear plastic piece to move the switch. It's a safety so that the antenna switch isn't accidentally moved.
When you switch it to external the indicator on the front should light up.
When using the external antenna "F" connector the internal antenna tuner is out of the circuit. Your antenna has to be resonant or tuned to work on the frequency you are on.
If you have access to a radio with a signal strength meter you can determine if your antenna is tuned correctly by moving your frequency above and below your desired frequency and watching for peak signal strength on the meter. Unless of course you have an SWR meter that will work at these frequencies and power levels.
OK thanks got it now the red light is on in the front.
I had posted a link to the info on their site but I see that link no longer works.
I did grab a copy for myself, so here it is
Marginally helpful, better than nothing ๐
I think I have some other docs, too, I'm searching my terabyte backup drive (well, Adobe Reader is) to see if anything else is there
Thanks for the instruction manual. It's helped me clear up one or two things with the TH that I wasn't sure about. ๐
So I shoved all the little "tech notes" from various newsletters into one file, here:
Talking House Tech News Letter stuff
Again, not Earth-shaking stuff, but might help a bit here and there...
Enjoy
