Here is the thing , I was going to buy an ATU unit from I Am radio, But the price of $295 plus insane shipping costs has me re thinking this unit.
If any of you have one I would be willing to pay full price for it.
Provided you can ship VIA UPS Ground or US Mail.
Heck even leave the Antenna off of it to ship. I will get one here for it.

I just want to get going and in the past I had some strange issues with my Antenna i built.
I sure hope I am not sorry I paid all of that money for this unit.

I am interested in your results, as I'm considering the iAM with ATU as well.
UPS Ground was the lowest shipping rate that I was offered .
Trust me I felt it was a rip off , But I had no choice being I want to stick with the Talking house for several reasons .

Sounds reasonable. So you were running a TH or iAM unit into a home built antenna via the external antenna port (which btw is not legal) and the performance was less than exciting, and are now going to run that TH or iAM with the actual outdoor ATU?
While your at it, check your ground system and improve it if possible. The ground system alone plays a very huge role in how far that signal will go, even with the RS ATU setup..a poor ground is going to make that thing perform less than expected..and just as the same in reverse, a very good ground system can make even a simple piece of wire hung over that excellent ground system shoot that signal farther than one would think.

I am going to run an 8' copper rod into the earth and run a 8 gauge copper wire to it from a 20 foot pipe on the roof of the house.
I hope that will be a good start.
Not sure you want to do that. What will happen is that 20 foot pole will become a radiator simply because it is a longer conductive element than the 3 meter long intended radiator at the top. Will grab a field agent's attention real fast.
Your best bet is to build a ground radial system, like spokes on a bicycle wheel. Take at least 4 or 8 10 foot long ground wires and lay them out flat in a circle. Bury them by taking a screw driver and cut a small trench and place the wires inside, cover with dirt. At the center of your radial circle, put a 3 or 4 foot long fence pole (metal) and slam the ground rod right next to it. Mount the ATU or TX/ANT combo onto the 4 foot mast. Connect its ground tab to the 4 foot pole. Tune up and will be good to go.
For further improvement, add more radial wires and ground rods at each end of those wires. 4 foot ground rods will do for the ends.
The more radials and ground rods you have, the better ground conductivity you will have and performance will improve.

The 20 ' pipe is the vent pipe for the bathroom on he house.
Then I will run the Copper pipe at the corner of the house .
Here is a pic of what I am trying to do.
The black pipe at the top of the house is a vent.
I plan to go 4 ' above that pipe.
The black vent pipe is to the left of the weather station mast pipe about half way to the end of the roof. It's barely visible as it clears the peak of the roof by a few inches in the picture.
So when you say it's a 20 foot pipe you mean 20 feet from the roof down to the basement. Then, the 4 foot mast will be attached to the vent pipe and be about 5 feet above the peak of the roof.

the pipe goes under the house and then about six inches above the top of the house.
Sometimes I really think I should just be a DJ because my typing is a constant typo.
Never the less ,,
I want to attach a 4' pipe to the vent pipe and then attach the ATU to that pipe.
Then I will run a ground to the bottom of the house to a 8' copper rod in the earth.
Should the FCC have an issue then I will make the changes to fix it.
Further more I will not give them any grief should they come to inspect my station.
I am not worried at all over this plan and should the FCC have a problem with my Antenna then I will make the correct changes.
If I get 1/2 mile to 1 mile then my plan will work for the coverage I need for this station.
The time for fighting and worry is over for me.
I will put my station to the way I interpret the part 15 laws and if there is an issue with my station I will with respect deal with these issues.

Well after $350 + dollars and a week of travel across the US of A the Talking house Range Extender has arrived .
The Packing peanuts nearly took over my house .
Testing shall commence as soon as I get my antenna mounts.
Over all it looks pretty LOL..

I hope the TH I sent you can do justice for that antenna.
My ATU was a used EBAY find at $99 plus shipping and the cost of a CB whip to put on it. But even with it's share of minor problems it works fairly well.
I can't wait to hear how well a NEW ATU works.
