MRAM 1500 is hosted by free service 50webs.com. Microsoft Publisher was used to put it together. The address is mram.50webs.com.
I also have a home hosted website origianlly put up to show it could be done.
For that I use the free server program "Abyss" which is running on an old P3. The PC locks up occasionally but it's old and is also running my NOAA WX streaming audio. The "test" website is MRAM.gotdns.com .
To home host you must open a port in your firewall. I've not been hacked yet. And of course depending on your internet provider uplink speed and your PC the site may be a little slow to respond.
Making it easy to be found requires a URL. If you don't have a static IP address you can use a redirect service such as DYNDNS. The cost is very reasonable considering what I can do with the service. This provides a URL which works regardless of my public IP address. DYNDNS monitors my public IP address and steers the URL to whatever the current public IP address is.
For what its worth, my website came with my streaming service which only costs me $9.50 a month. Affordable and I never have to worry about some free service deciding to put ads in, plus I get easy FTP access which is nice.
