i'm looking for station website idea's. please post a link to your station websites in this thread.
i have a qsl.net free hosting and i want to make a website for the micro part 15 station to go along with the stations facebook page.
if anyone wants to volunteer to help me with a station webpage design i won't object to that either.
thanks,
So far I pay for my website, but want to learn about free websites. I'll be paying attention to what you find out, Robert.

Komposer is a free HTML package from Mozilla, although they no longer support it.
I do all my own HTML code.
I use WIX which is FREE. I use a .shorturl because I used other FRE sites and if one fails I can redirect my listeners to another by changing the URL in shorturl.com which is $1.88/yr My station started out as Internet Radio and I try to promote the Internet stream on the part 15 AM and FM side. My link is in my signature. I guess I should talk about the part 15 side on the webpage.
Nice looking website Carl, I like it when someone does it themselves. The classic look is good for the senses too, it's like the facts are laid out before you, without side bars or irrelevant info popping up in each corner as with so many sites now.
Komposer may be old, but it seems useful for direct, effective communications. I saw iKomposer long ago when trying Mozilla, didn't know they still had it, is it available for Firefox too? I like Rich's cartoon, we all have our own reputations, he he, be proud...
As for a Part 15 site, I don't have one either, I don't really have a lot of info or pictures of my stuff yet, and am still working on getting a ten foot AM station rolling yet, and as I build I'll take photos. Also debating whether it is better to have a standard site or blog style, which can help speed postings, writing them as articles.
Another site to look at is MRAM 1500's site, also a classic.
I have the most simple website possible. www.ironrangecountry.com. I have several websites all hosted with Fat Cow. I pay for one pile of server space for my (old) main website, edselmotors.com. For a couple bucks I'm able to purchase additional domain names and host them on the same server. I also have www.rollerderbyradionetwork.com, morningmess.net (I thought I should have a web presence for my morning show name although there's not much more there than an old aircheck and a photo) along with a few other oddball sites I've dreamed up but don't really use.
I don't really remember what I pay Fat Cow for the server space, around $100 a year. I get unlimited storage. I have gigs and gigs of stuff stashed up there. When people download the weekly Oompah Hour programs that's where they come from. I have 78 hour long programs archived there now. When you call them humans answer.
I use Mac computers of course so probably none of you would ever be using the same software I do. There's a free browser called Seamonkey that includes very basic web authoring as well. It's very old school but serves my purpose.

I have a decent website hosted for free at Weebly.com
Just last night I did some research and found 1and1.com a hosting and domain name company offering affordable hosting and domain name registration.
http://www.bluebucketradio.com was registered and is redirecting to http://tltrs.weebly.com
The cost for registering the domain for a year? 0.18 or 18 cents a year.
I am on a nearly non existant budget so this fits the my needs for the time being and I have plans to add hosting at a later date. But for now, the free hosting service at Weebly.com and the cheap domain re-direct serves my purposes,
I would like to run an Icecast server from home and use a DNS to point to the server here at the house but our internet is unreliable and tech support is nearly non-existant as well.
A few years ago i was a customer of godaddy.com but over the course of the a year the tech support was lacking and the hosting became an expense I could not afford. After all, this is a hobby.
Hope this helps.

thers a few dead links on both.
Talk about useful information, this is all great and it comes right when I also am thinking about cutting the cord with a "big player" (Network Solutions) and concentrate on keeping more money for food and heat.
Robert kcgpd, please keep us informed about what you eventually decide to do.
A lot of FREE web hosting services work for Radio. Just get the ones where you have an HTML editor and that accept some Java scripts so that if you also stream online it will allow you to use your Now Playing widgets for showing what is played. In WIX there are apps that allow for this. You then could use Kamposer and when it generates the HTML you can copy and paste to your HTML editor and away you go. You can do a little more that way. You can even set up a Paypal donate button too like I did. If people like your station you'll get some donations from time to time. A Free and easy way is to have one page. You can talk a little about your station and have either a link to your player or the player can be placed on the main page (Depending on your license provider for streaming). Since often the FREE hosts have a bandwidth cap you want to keep the page so that it does not hog data and that serves the main purpose. If you have more than one FREE host and a redirect service you simply redirect it to another site when your bandwidth is up. If your smart you'll know how to use a VPN and multiple accounts and create the same page on other user nemes and as long as you quickly redirect your listeners to another URL with the service you'll not lose your listeners. Believe me when your poor you learn really quick how to improvise.
here it is. i whipped it up real quick over the last couple hours. i stil have alot of work to do. this is basicly a rough place holder.

also i forget who made the id's and such for me last time but if you could email me and whip up a promo for my new station website i would appreciate it very much.
thanks
Like you new web site....like the picture of the Waltons and their new radio. In fact the actor who played Johnboy is now in "the good wife".....much older. Was in a few episodes last season.
Ya, if you forgot who did the station Id's for you(that you are using now) it was me.
If you tell me what you want for a promo I'll see if I can do for you. Listened a bit to your online stream and heard myself on the station I'ds...cool!

I think the website and forum are to the way I envisioned it. At least as close as I can get within the limitations of wix and proboards.
Everyone go have a look and let me know how you like it.
freethinkerradio.webs.com used webs.com to host or website for free.
