turn it on and leave it on Legacy, you are under no obligation to shut down because of the atmosphere. Rock on!
Well I try and be polite, but the pinch on 87.7 and 87.9 Mhz leaves me no other choice but to use 96.3 Mhz possibly causing interference to a Dxer. If I get a call I'll tell them like it is and ask them to help me when the document is ready to ask the FCC for 87.7 and 87.9 Mhz. But I won't be tattled on for using that frequency. And I just know someone will. So it puts a person like me in a situation when I have to check for temperature inversions after a certain time. Other operators won't be as polite or caring as me. It ruins things for Dxer's now.
You're nicer than me Legacy, I'd tell them to get over it lol! DXer's mean nothing to commercial broadcasters, and they mean nothing to me. Not saying I don't like a bit of DX. Any appreciable DX conditions will wipe a part 15 fm signal off the face of the earth.
Yes I know 87.9 is illgal to operate on. The only time I will be useing it is to see how far the range will go with my tinfoil test. I am useing it because that is the cleanest in my area now since who ever was useing it last is not on air anymore. So I am only useing it for 5 or 10 minunts before I turn it off 🙂
Thanks
You don't have to convince me. If i could make the FCC change their mind about 87.9 Mhz id be all over it by myself. Then they gripe when someone interferes with NPR. Hello 87.9 is clear in dozens of a reas. Just no longer mine. There is a station on 88.1 Mhz from Hampton University WHOV. I now am forced to use 96.3 Mhz and watch the temperature inversions. Talking about 8u,9 Mhz makes some uncomfortable.
"Talking about 8u,9 Mhz makes some uncomfortable."
That's because it's illegal to use as a Part 15 (or BETS-1) frequency.
Well I got the same range as I did on the other one. From .3-.5 miles was what I could get. So I will assume that is the max range I could get out of this 🙂
Was fun doing the testing on this. If any of you got ideas or suggestions I can do let me know 🙂
Thanks
I moved back to 96.3 Mhz in Elizabeth city, NC. I may be moving to Gloucester, VA. Ill have to see if any blank frequencies are available for FM. Lots going on here at The Legacy for now. Ill check 102.5 up their.
Yea I used 87.9 just for the max range on the cleanest frequency by me it is too noisy so FM does not go far.
