Nice looking card MRAM, I somehow had the idea that your station call stood for More Music And More somehow.

I wonder how many part 15 stations have things made, like your qsl card, which looks like it could be a business card, it's about the size of one on my screen, 3.5 x 2 inches. I haven't seen a too many part 15s showing off their bus.cards, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, tshirts and other things the listeners could collect or win in a contest.

Stations must not bother, thinking they are too small to take advantage or promo items.

MRAM BANNER

That's a good Banner MRAM, helps to remember the station. I've only found a few part 15 stations where someone has taken the time to put a good site together for them. Many more sites are a few pages, not much info and seem to be abandoned, or just have just a few friends if it's facebook.

It makes me wonder if thee's a lot of turnover, guys doing radio for a season and then going away. I wonder how many girls are involved in part 15, I'm sure that whatever the number is, Carl would like there to be more.  🙂 I've seeen Brandy from Radio Brandy, that's the only one I can think of at the moment in part15. I know of a few in pirate radio, one was involved in a documentary about their station, and another who says she's a 'pirate chick"

It makes sense though, all numbers are higher on the pirate side because of more of that kind of station exists, a longer history I guess? It also seems that the pirate side has some big time personalities, dramatic, colorful, loud. They're the ones who try drone powered radio, and climb towers and apartment blocks to place antennas and other risky things.

Some are known locally for being their town's resident odd person, like the guy Jack Cheese, who wears his whole radio link on his body, going to ffestivals and interviewing people in the open and looks like Groucho Marx. Commander Bunny who wants a rodent revolution, and does all shows in a rabbit voice, which you can hear by searching Archive org. You think the Commander is just a personality doing a cartoon radio voice, but the Commander's been doing shows and writing and fighting for the past 20 years about being an bunny and overthrowing humans, no joke. You read enough of his posts and have to wonder how much he believes he's an actual rabbit. Allen Weiner did pirate broadcasting from a pirate radio ship years ago, that's the guy runnng Art Bell now on his licensed station, as Carl and Atrain have posted, but his bio does tell all about his past with the ship off the coast of New York and how they were raided by the gvt. Then there are the ships from the North Sea in the UK, and maybe that's it, the drama from those guys comes from the idea of pirates and the high seas, so they're attracted to that scene.

Part 15 seems to be a few stations that are really established and have been doing it for years, with a lot of new stations and lots of turnaround. I wonder if the usual part 15 person is looking for a quieter approach, or is naturally more shy? For me, I don't want it to take too much time, programming day and night, letting DJs come in at all hours, writing scripts and doing news, just want to play some tunes that others don't and run shows that others make, and go on and off the air when I want to, without angry PMs or calls, plus to experiment with different antennas and setups.

Got off of the topic there, sorry! It relates to publicity for stations though, like banners and graphics, what personalities stations are using to get themselves known. Graphics and banner exchanges uset to be a bigger thing, and I don't see them as much with people using more Twitter, Facebook which seem to not be set up for cretivity with graphics, the sites are pre made.
