Inspiration sometimes arrives while the brain is working on some other problem.

All of a sudden I think maybe, possibly, perhaps, I see a cause, a project, a mission, an undertaking that might enlist the effort of not only the members of the ALPB, but all part 15 radio stations through the combined websites of part15(dot)us and thealpb(dot)com.

One of our biggest and most persistent complaints, shared with all AM broadcasters and listeners, is the terrible interference from many unintentional radiators which pollutes the electromagnetic environment.

If it were a messy beach, we could grab trash bags and go down there to clean it up. But RFI (Radio Frequency Interference)isn't a physical place, so we need to ask "how can we clean it up?"

This is a topic I want to bring for discussion at a meeting of the ALPB.

We have noticed that the FCC is avoiding the problem of dealing with interferences from Unintended Radiators, so they may be grateful if the Part 15 community becomes active in doing something about the problem. That is, they will be grateful up to a point, until we turn the problem over to them after gathering data.

Yes, I envision an Interference Registry compiled and managed by the Part 15 radio stations in tandem with the ALPB, listing sources of interference, locations, and other details.

While the FCC cheer leads for a crackdown on about 20-pirate broadcasters as a distraction from the larger problem of man-made interference, we would, in essence, be doing their undone job by tracking down and listing actual sources of radio noise.

As information is collected by the Part 15ers, I recommend flooding the Commission with valid and informed complaints aiming for a quieter radio band.

Comments are very welcome.
