This is not part 15 related, but it is technical. Does anyone know exactly how a satellite radio signal is processed?
This is not part 15 related, but it is technical. Does anyone know exactly how a satellite radio signal is processed? It sounds very direct. Almost like there is no compression or processing, which is probably not the case. Just curious. Thanks!
I can't answer your question directly but will offer that when I had Music Choice from DirecTV it was super fidelity. I quit listening when they went to XM, but Music Choice is available on my cable system and it is not good. I don't know if it is the cable system or Music Choice but something is wrong.
Here's a link to a thread on another board where this was discussed. It is long, but there is a lot of opinion expressed and it might interest you:

I found that information very informative.
BTW, I'm not starting a satellite radio station. Lol.
I think I've inherited this interest in radio from my great Uncle. He worked for a company called SCI located in Huntsville, Alabama. His name was Samuel L. Broadhead. He has several patents involving FM frequency devices that are now used by all the major airlines. I thought this was really interesting. I can remember going to visit him as a child. He also was an avid classic car collector. He restored a 1938 Packard Darrin, which he researched and found to have belonged originally, to Clark Gable! He and my great aunt are gone now. However, I wish he was still around to answer my tech questions.
