What Part 15 goody do you want for Christmas?

I want "transmission lines" allowed under 15.219, so that AM transmitters can be safely located indoors with antennas located outdoors.

The rule thumpers can stow it and avoid saying the usual wise-crack that we can use a transmission line under 15.209. That is unhelpful advice and not worth discussing because the field strength allowance for AM under that rule is insulting.

On the otherhand 15.209 could be upgraded along with 15.219 so as to fulfill this simple and reasonable holiday wish.

After all, the AM band is blighted, so let's allow some new development.

Have a Cranky Christmas.

eliminate the ground lead restricitons for part 15.219

for myself

set of modulation monitors one for am and one for fm

FM field intensity meter

broadcast profanity delay

upgrade my board from an AC-8 to an Air-1

that would round out my station and make it complete

How about a Part 15.209 field strength increase.

Part 15.209 is easy to implement; use what ever you want, just meet the FS limit.  Or maybe instead of FS let's go by an ERP based on calculations.  Of course current technical requirements for harmonic suppression, audio bandwidth, etc. will be continued.

Just a watt or two ERP would be fine.

And yes, a simple, inexpensive way to verify field strength compliance.  Perhaps a simple go/no go, pre-calibrated device tuneable within your band of operation.  Green Light-OK, Red Light-turn it down.  Check at a specified distance - if it's GREEN, you're good to go.

I'll leave the cookies and cocoa next to the console.

Ho, Ho, Hmmmm...
