Hi: If you worked in radio back in the times like i did from the 1979 to 1987 if you remember the patch panels aka patch track you would know they used male connectors on each ends NOTE:( they looked liked the 1/4 connectors if you never saw them. ) that go into the female patch panel aka patch track section.

Are station had 4 complete patch panel aka patch tracks.

3 for each of the full control room.

1 for the transmitter section.

Brings back memories Station 8

I ran into a same-sex cable impasse with two male mini-plugs looking at each other.

I checked with a few churches and found the Church of the SubGenius also objects to mini-plug rendezvous.

I have come across a line of "sexless" connectors which you might find interesting. These can be configured in a number of ways such as for a two conductor power cord. Such a cable or connection will always mate correctly if the colors are matched whether sourcing or sinking the power.

See:

http://www.andersonpower.com/products/singlepole-connectors.html

These are now my standard connectors for 12 V use around the 8z compound. I solder them rather than having to buy pricy tools for crimping. This also allows using any wire rather than the size specified for crimp.

So, in Dublin, Ohio, marriages can be crimped or soldered, I once dated a crimp (what could that possibly mean?)

I go to work every day in a studio with the good ol' patch panels.  I grabbed a quick photo with my phone this morning, it's posted at:

If you'd like to take a guess at what any of the labels mean, LOL.  I can come back and explain them later.  We use this every single day.  It's part of the original station construction from 1948. Of course it's been rewired many times.  These were very versatile panels as there were many possible wiring configurations.

Hi Tim: I want to say thank you for oompah hour show there great !!!!

I'll give your pach panel a shot.

ABC - Was a feed source.

CRL / PROC - I know crl made equipment, But can't  remember what.

To Fm - To fm transmitter.

PROD ST - To production studio.

Bogan- Amp,mixer

Board - To control Board.

To Prod - Production studio.

Marti - Made equipment,But not sure what.

Your patch panel is the same we had at our station, But the label are way different then what we had do to the set up of course.

Are patch panel where set in stone and not changed hardly at all except for some updates but that was very rare.

Tim I would like to ask you if you could you make some nice high quality picture of your patch panel and  cable for me please.

On taken pictures could you use a white back drop for the cables streched out .

Here is some of the cable i know they made.

I know they made the signal end to end cable. ( 1/4 male to 1/4 male end  )

They made a double end connector like in your picture.

I know they had one double connector that was a stub size

If you would take these that would be great and send to me and thank you for your time.

station 8
