The last time a local AM station was popular was 1960 when 1430 WIL made No. 1 in the market. Since that time anything above 1120 (KMOX) has been largely ignored and the general public does not explore the upper frequencies.
YET, the FCC no doubt scans the blighted upper AM band looking for unlicensed signals.
Go figure.

I am figuring now.

The opening blurt was supposed to say "The last time a local radio station in the upper part of the AM band was popular..."
I had it clearly in mind but my fingers skipped over some words.
Go refigure.
