I wasn't sure if anyone here had heard of RadioDJ.
http://www.radiodj.ro
It was intended to be used as a shoutcast Auto-DJ application however I find it to work very well for Part 15 broadcast (note that I do not yet have my station on the air).
This will play over any attached audio interface so it would be easy to hook up to any transmitter you might be using, it seems to work very well in my tests so far (you need mysql, you have to install this before starting the software).
It handles station ids, and playlist management and it allows me to have IDs roughly every hour without interrupting whats playing by just adding the Id to the top of the current playlist.
I also noticed that if the "AutoDJ" is enabled, even if you manually clear out the playlist it will continue to play based of its last programmed event at random to prevent dead-air. (this can be disabled by switching to manual mode).
I'll let you know how this works out once I'm on the air 24/7
Looking forward to hearing a report on this software.
A good free automation software is needed about now, as the old-stand by Zara is no longer supported for Winamp plugin style operation, and has always crashed in my tests.
The Winamp playlist provides a type of "free-running" automation, which means it is not tied to clock accuracy.
Some well-recommended commercial automation softwares are greatly over-priced, in my opinion, since they are little more than Winamp-type playlists which track a clock.
Appreciation to Corrosion for sharing news of Radio DJ.
The software is becoming increasingly more promising the more I mess with it.
However this is all off-air testing, the real test will be once I have it running for a week or so, but over all so-far its great!
There are even plugins to allow things like song-voting.
glad i joined, this is why i joined, i found zara and was having some issues. seems like a fair program but was wondering if there was something better
The software is GREAT!
See what I love about it is the fact that it runs using an SQL backend (they do have a tutorial on sql installation).
Some people don't like that because it means they have to install something along side the software to make it work, but what I love about it is that because its sql based (the same sql backend used to power websites like part15.us) you can actually create an interactive website around it.
So I could allow my listeners to vote on songs during a vote hour, or let them view current and previous played songs, view my audio library, etc...
If I wanted to I could even show the exact schedule on the website and have it auto-update as I make changes within RadioDJ.
