Does anyone know what happened to the internet based RadioAmber.net?
I have been using this service for a few years. Tonight I noticed my automated download of the MP3 from the website was hung-up, unable to resolve host.
The last forum post for RadioAmber.net on LoudCity's forum was dated late in 2009. The automated download seems to have been working as of late. I hate to think its been offline that long without noticing.
All I can find for Radio Amber is child alerts. Is that what you're looking for?
Their website appears active to me..
Ken, that's what an Amber Alert is 🙂
I must have pinged them while they were doing maintenance or something because neither my automated file download or the website was up last night. There was talk on the forum about abandoning the operation if they couldn't move it to Unix or something like that. But those posts are a couple years old and then they end.
Today everything is back in order.
Radio Amber puts out Amber Alerts via the internet. And, the alerts are regionalized so you can limit the alerts you receive on a state by state basis.
My automated file download checks every 15 minutes for new alerts. Fortunately there haven't been any for some time now.
"Ken, that's what an Amber Alert is :)"
Of course ... I know. I just thought the reference might have been for something else.
The URL has recently changed where you obtain the Amber Alert from.
The new URL is: http://webnews.sc13.shoutcaststreaming.us/amberus.mp3
Check and see if this is what you have.

I also found the new URL on their webpage so I checked the operation of my old URL. It still connects and downloads a file. The URL I have was for the Ohio area, http://radioamber.net/alerts/ohio.mp3
I'm wondering now if the old link is being updated. If not, do they offer regional alerts with a new link?
I just compared the messages at the individual states links, which I wasnt able to find on the site anymore and the new link found under the download tab of the site, the messages from the old links and the new link is different. The messages from the old links is hot and distorted while the new link has a more professional broadcast sound....so we shall see which link does what and which on is more accurate.

Hi,
We had some technical problems but the system is intact and has not been down more than a few hours at any given time. Please note that anytime you see a problem you are welcome to contact us from our website to let us know. Also feel free to send us details of your stations to add to our media outlet page.
Take Care,
Paul
Paul, I haven't been active with the site itself but I have been using the service for a few years.
When I originally registered, an FTP logon was provided that allowed me to upload/download info to/from the FTP server.
Some time after, I was notifed the site was changing and regional RadioAmber alerts were available which was very nice. Is that feature still available for OHIO at the URL I posted previously?
Hi,
The new url for all alerts and the old url for all alerts work. It became necessary to have more than one server to house the alerts. The old regional state urls still work and are being updated. The pages and psa's for the regional state alerts are in the process of being updated. The link to the regional pages will be available again once I have completed the updates. I'll try to post back here when updates are complete.
Take Care,
Paul
Thanks for the update. I run the RadioAmber alerts on my Part 15 AM and our City's low power info AM station.
Looking forward to the new State pages.
