I never thought about whether most streams from Part 15 AM stations are mono or stereo.
For seven years everything from my station was in mono, AM, FM and streams, but this year, 2013, I mixed it up a little bit.
My 48kbps MP3 and AAC streams are now stereophonic, although the 16kbps stream is mono since that stream is intended for dialup listeners and those with very low bandwidth.
My AM stations are mono, since listeners are not equipped with AM stereo receivers.
The management of such varied systems can get tricky.
Hey Carl, thanks for the response ๐ What would you suggest for a stereo net stream? I was thinking 128, but I have no idea really what the norm is ๐

I think he means bitrate - not frequency bandwidth..
I am on 64k 44.1kHz - with good processing, you don't hear the "streamer whine".. 128k is really nice, but since im going to be running an OTR station, 64k will likely suit me just fine.
Take a listen to a few different stations to see what you think. WEVL in Memphis streams at 32k / 44.1kHz Click to Listen Live!
Should give you a good low-end base..

Hey all, just chimming in to give a update. I think to solve this cookie would be to replace the Behringer MDX 2600 with the Behringer MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600 ( http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/MDX4600.aspx ) One channel goes to the transmitter, one channel goes to a modest bit rate mono stream to the net and the other 2 channels go to high bit rate stereo stream to the net. Just trying to cover all my bases ๐

Groo, we run RadioBoss and not only will it stream to Live365, but you can open up multiple paths to other servers as well like Shoutcast. Another nice feature is the ability to schedule connections to web streams for re-broadcast as specified times. For example, we can connect to the Voice of America news at the top of the hour.
wdcx, Yeah, I think I am going to really like it. I really dig the routing abilities and the vst plugins as well:) Hey, would ya mind if I asked ya which compressor/limiter you use? Right now, I have the mdx 2600. I was thinking about ditching it and getting the mdx 4600 which is missing the de-esser and the tube enchancer effect, but it has 4 channels, and the 2600 has only two. Eventually what we wanted to do is have one channel go to the transmitter, one with a decent quality signal in mono streamed to the net, then a higher bit rate stereo signal streamed to the net. So I guess I am asking if it would be better to get 2 2600's or one 4600. lol ๐ I need to decide quick because I have to decide by tomorrow as its the last day I will be able to trade the 2600 in for the 4600 and only have to pay 20 bucks vs 130.00 for a additional mdx 2600 lol ๐
Thanks mang ๐
PS:) You wouldnt be into hopping on TeamSpeak3 or Skype sometime for some quick Radio Boss lessons would ya? lol ๐

Also, audio routing is not necessary with RadioBoss. Thats another reason why i use it.
