What ever became of the old North American Aviation plant?
When I moved to this area without a job it was suggested that I send my resume to the "Rockwell Plant" but as I was investigating possibilities I learned that this plant was closing. In fact, when I started teaching at the college some of the students were displaced Rockwell employees seeking "retraining".
I haven't been by the plant site for many years so I don't know what happened with the property.

The airplane I worked on while in the Navy was built there.
Airplane looks very sky worthy.
That brings up questions I have had about the military services but which I was too (army) private to ask:
The "Army" has its name because they are armed to the hilt. They are very army.
The "Navy" is an interesting name that we know to associate with sea going, but the word itself... "knaves"? You'd think they'd be called "marines" and what's with the Navy airplanes?
Marine life refers to the ocean, yet "Marines" are not a "navy" under another name.
The "Air Force" is the flying service, but there are Navy and army planes, probably even Marine aircraft.
Originally the "National Guard" included state militias designed to domestically defend states right here on home turf, but all of a sudden one day the "Guard" started being used like an "Army Reserve" and sent to foreign wars.
The "Merchant Marines" are what, a domestic Navy?
How many military services are there? We haven't even gotten to all the branches of domestic enforcement divisions... are we at war with ourselves many times over?
Maybe staying confused is the best thing to do.
What radio frequencies did these sleek planes use?
What method of modulation.encryption?
What happens to a radio transmission or reception traveling over a thousand-miles per hour?
