podcasting - part 15 intersection?

I've been away from these parts after visiting last year. I had a great summer with my backyard part15 radio - perfect for sitting out in the yard, studying for my Ham license.

Just wondering if anyone has used, or considered rebroadcasting podcasts as a way of adding to their broadcast library, and democratizing the podcasts to go to non-computer users.

FWIW, anyone who wants is free to rebroadcast my (yeah, I suppose this is shameless self-promotion) short podcasts. See:

Well, since this post has not gotten any other responses, I'll jump in with my $.02. Podcasting is the latest tech-fad, but it is not fundamentally different from internet radio, or sites that have downloadable mp3 programs. It's just a different way to transfer the files.

As usual, all these forms of mp3 file transfer are unreliable in the long run. You can rebroadcast an internet station, but you better monitor it frequently to see if you need to restore the connection. Podcasting is even more unreliable because you are at the mercy of whoever the source is. The source could send a lot of nice stuff and then surprise you with something objectionable. Good luck!

Well - I guess podcasting can be called a high tech fad - kind of like that other one, radio, which is also subject to ups and downs vis a vis quality.

With the advent of lowcost mp3 players, podcasting is a different kind of medium than internet radio since you can become untethered from the internet-connected computer. I definitely would say radio is still a more egalitarian way of communicating for the listener - but podcasting is a way for many people to - at low cost - produce audio content, content which is perfect for use in a micro broadcast setting. Go take a look at the Godcast.org network, or Podcastalley.com for a tremendous variety of material. Yes, Sturgeon's law applies, but it isn't that hard to find real gems.

FWIW, my backyard "Radio Free Klingon" now has my Klingon Word podcasts in the mix, and anyone else is welcome to put the content on the air - enjoy!

I'm thinking the podcasts many folks are releasing now could really help with some content. I'm finding more and more websites with downloadable audio files labeled as podcasts of various content. Adding these to the playlist could help listenalility a lot 8)

Hmmm... Guess I'd better post some podcast sources on the blog!

OK - I did!
