Part 15 mobile home reception
Fellows. I winter in Fla in a 250 mobile home retirement community spred over about a quarter of a mile. Given that most of the homes have grounded aluminum siding how about some insights as to whether a LPAM system would penetrate them. JimB
I doubt you would have much success. FM might be better for penetrating metal home (short waves through the windows), but it is well known that legal part 15 FM doesn't get you very far, even without the metal home problem.
Now if you could convince the 250 listeners to all put up an outdoor antenna, that would be a different story 😀
Thank you Phil. JimB
Jim B:
Another suggestion for use on the receiving end: If the trailer has a large window with a view in your direction, and a non-metal shelf, table, etc. next to the window, the AM receiver could be placed on that. If the AM receiver has external antenna terminals, a small manufactured AM loop antenna could be placed on the shelf/table and connected to the receiver.
For more information, see "Receiving Part 15 Transmitters" in the Part15.US Library. DISCLAIMER: I wrote that. Proceed as you see fit.
to bad the aluminum is grounded, if it wasnt, it would make a great recieveing antenna...
I loved in a older mobile home for a while and iut wants grounded, i hooked my FM stereo to the siding and got awsome reception.
Dont most of those RV's have a crankup antenna, and usually have a car radion in the unit some where hooked to it.... THey have that antenna it will pick up the signal especially if it with in a QT mile.. you should be able to pull it off.. some may not get your signal but if your programming is good and neighbors talk about it they may add a antenna outside for your signal.. even a wire out the window would work..
