Of course the expression "oompah" describes the sound of a tuba, the largest brass instrument.
Only yesterday I was wishing for more solo tuba music, that is, the tuba being played all by itself without other instruments or vocalists. It's practically non-existent.
Tim, if anyone knows where to find tuba solos it would be you.
