I am wondering if anyone here know a free legal way to run a online radio station. I was using radionomy but they closed down my station a few days ago due to the lack of traffic. Do any of you know of something else I can use?

You'll have to take care of royalty issues yourself.
Thats the problem. No one can afford the royalty rates.
Ok well I guess if there is no free way minus radionomy I do have another question. What if I do stream my radio to the internet but I only know the link and stuff to play the stream. Main reason for this is I would like to listen to it in my car when I am far from my house.

According to SESAC that is OK.
When you setup ShoutCast plug-in you can flag it as private. That will prevent it from showing up in the ShoutCast directory. Likewise using BUTT you can flag it as non-public.
Of course if someone stubles upon your stream address they could list it making it available.
Don't know if the "bots" would pickup on it.
I found a program called Stream What You Hear and run it off that. I dought anyone will stumble across it unless I sent them the link or they know my IP. My IP is dynamic so that will also make it more diffcult.
