I quit paying to watch television over ten years ago. I think there are still lots of people who don't realize that you can still get television for free with an antenna. All the cable/satellite services are always advertising who has the best prices and trying to win customers and I think they have most people convinced (and they want it that way) that the only way to get television is to pay anywhere from $30-$100 per month.
I'm delighted at the apparent trend of more people realizing that they can get plenty of television absolutely free, and plenty more via the internet (assuming they have good broadband service) for nothing more than their monthly ISP bill, or inexpensively from sources like Amazon, NetFlix, Hulu, etc. The days of cable and satellite bundles where subscribers are forced to pay for expensive sports channels they'll never watch so they can see a handful of shows they like may be numbered.
Thanks for your comments, Rich Powers.
I'm expecting that my Roku 3 box will be delivered to me in the next day or two, after which I will check it out and report back.
