Just one of our corporate sponsors, local ACE Hardware, has been sending the audio to their in-store system, meaning about 40 or so people have been listening while they shop ... 'course that only shows up as one listener online 😉 Others with no internet access have been packing dinner and driving into town to listen on the Part 15 AM. One of the sports bars which doesn't have an internet radio connection also occasionally tunes in on AM 1650.
We're looking at live online video too. In addition to the 'normal' Ustream connection, they also have a Facebook-only iPhone app. Generally requires a WiFi connection, but it's pretty cool ... sends live video direct to our Facebook page and records it at the same time. You can check it out at Friday Harbor TinyRadio on Face, or from our website, click on the Face icon. Syncing with the audio from our announcer (Mike "Voice of the Wolverines" Martin) is still an issue, but I believe the solution is in hand.
I posted a reply to this message, but it is not here, so I will post again.
Ken, your radio station is a model to be admired by all part 15 stations, and has become a dream station at Friday Harbor.
After learning about what you are doing with community involvement there is no reason for anyone to doubt the strength of part 15 radio.
Thank you for your great station.
Thanks for the kind words. Merry Christmas and Happy Prosperous New Year to all.
Pretty awesome what you are doing Ken!
We need more low power broadcasters with success stories like your's.
