RFB,
Good points but that is the way it is with CC&Rs. Your advice to bring the magnifying glass is correct. This is what I did and didn't sign anything for several days while I read and re-read them. As mentioned earlier I decided I could live with them and have for 23 years.
The benefit to me is that if a neighbor neglects or trashes their property there is a remedy available. This has not been tested here.

I am not aware of any HOA "trade organizations", are you? When I was HOA president I was approached by two City Council candidates seeking our HOA endorsement. I declined and so has every successive president. Our HOA has never given one dime for any political purpose and I have never seen an endorsement from any other HOA in my city but I suppose this could happen somewhere.
Our HOA does maintain contact with our city leaders and departments but this is only for issues which may affect our neighborhood such as tree planting and sidewalk changes. We are not a "powerful" lobby group at all.

ive seen it mentioned on here somewhere.

Here's how to do it.
We band together and found a part15 friendly community.
We could name it "Towering Heights."
Only radio stations could live there.
There might be a squabble over available frequency space.
i thought of starting my own commune like the amish only everyone is not stuck in the dark ages.
run the whole place off renewable energy everyone contributes to the common good and still be allowed their own pursuits.
we would grow our own garden, hunt and fish for our own food.
churn out electronics products to support the community.
there would be a community club/ham station and community part 15.

"check out this conversation on eham...."
I like the last comment on pg 1 the most!
What would be the main reason for no outdoor antennas...appearance or safety or both?
Or is there a deeper agenda with reaches far further than the local levels. Like that suggested in that eham forum.
We know there is a controlled and manipulated mainstream media and that is under the realm of the FCC. Is it possible that there is an underlying motive through these channels of HOA's and CC&R's etc to completely remove all forms of radio freedom including Amateur Radio?
IMO, if there really is an agenda to create a one world order, it's logical for them to also take control of hobby radio like Part 15 and Amateur Radio as they would with everything else!
Seems to me that is the way things are heading.

As one of my favorite radio voices once said, "Effigies are legal." I think "effigies" come from voo doo practices in the deep south, and refer to "burning or otherwise torturing a straw and paper likeness of an unliked person." As times are turning effigies could become illegal by tomorrow.
But the idea of an effigy has to do with defending against alien forces (no reference to Mexico is intended). In this conversation HOA's are the alien force.
An engineer I know built a circuit for a lady friend who's son constantly played loud and horrible music from the local acid rock FM station. He put the circuit in a band aid tin and added only one control on the tin, an on/off switch. When the woman turned it on the band aid box blocked FM 94.7 and the bad music went away. He had built a jamming transmitter. He named it "Mother's Little Helper."
It is possible to order from off-shore little jamming transmitters for cell phone frequencies. If you're in a restaurant or an elevator and some obnoxious cell phoner is dominating the audio spectrum with a loud one-sided conversation, you switch the pocket device "On," and suddenly you hear those blessed words, "Hello? Hello? What's wrong with this thing now?"
I read in an experimenters article how a battery, a long metal file and a dragging wire can put out static over a very wide band of frequencies and ruin reception for everyone in a 5-block radius. Why would this be done? To use "gurilla effigy" on the HOAs who shut you down.
The Occupy Oaklander's who were protesting legally under their 1st Amendment guaranteed right for redress of grievances had no choice but to accept the brutal clubbing, kicking, tazing, gassing and arresting they were subjected to. They couldn't fight back.
Before we are sent to death camps we should at least build a jamming transmitter.
"They are so sure of everything that nothing else applies other than their own self....until the reaper of real life woes comes knocking at their door then their tune changes dramatically."
... It's so true. On a nearby island which has no ferry service, one property owner built a short grass runway. Once, an aircraft not from the community had to make an emergency landing, which prompted other owners to get all over the guy's case and he finally relented and closed the runway with a bunch of logs laid across it.
... that is until one of the worst complainants had a medical emergency. He was flown off by rescue chopper, but those guys' insurance don't allow any other riders than medical professionals already on board, and so his family couldn't follow him over except by boat the next morning. That prompted the community to have the runway reopened for use.
Canada often does a better job of respecting their elderly and disabled than the U.S., without having to enact a bunch laws. Most people I know up there just give whatever is needed for accessibility without having to be told to by rule-makers.
With respect to the issues at hand, another reason for designing an adequate loop or even fractal antenna system, which can be 'disguised' as planterbox decorations.
We have made a strong case for the trouble with HOA's. We have also heard that HOA's can be rational and fair, thanks to Neil Radio8Z. Now we need to summarize.
Neil must submit some DNA so he can be cloned. Then we have HOA's populated entirely by all the Niels.
Simple?
Tha Dood AM 1620 sent a link to a science article about the invention of invisible threads. Very interesting.
If we could get an invisible antenna, think of what we could do!

Well the last resort would be to get permission to put in a bird bath in the yard with water shooting out the center forming a water antenna. All that would be needed is the coupling toroid and a coax.
Not sure though if that coupler would be of reasonable size given the frequencies. But hey it would be worth looking into.
There is a post elsewhere about water antennas.
