If I spaced two sstran tx's 400ft apart ran exactly 200ft of cable for my audio to each tx and had them both hooked to the same audio output could I run them on the same frequency with out problems.

Do I just have to worry about the audio being in sink or will the tx's not work in this way. Im just trying to get my signal cleaner in one sort of dead spot in our area.
thanks,
Brian

Sorry, but in order to do that the carriers of the two transmitters will need to be frequency/phase locked to each other, and the antenna system will need some serious engineering design.

Locking the carriers together on the same frequency is needed to prevent generating a beat frequency between them in receivers. The physical placement of the antennas with respect to each other and the desired coverage area, and the r-f phase and amount of r-f power applied to each of them will determine the shape of the net radiation pattern. The patterns of the individual antennas will reinforce each other in some directions, and tend to cancel in other directions.

And the modulation polarities of the two transmitters need to be the same for all modulating frequencies.

It's not a simple problem or installation.

You can do it but there will be some interference at the signal edges between the two transmitters. You could probably experiment with the spacing of the transmitters so the interference is minimal.

Maybe the best way to avoid the potential of co-channel interference would be to operate your two transmitters on different frequencies.

Unsynchronized transmitters on the same frequency (which in practice is almost impossible to maintain) will produce periodic enhancement and cancellation at a given receiver site where the signals are about equal yet the frequencies or phases differ, similar to night time fading of distant AM signals.

Even if the transmitters are phase locked at the same carrier frequency, there will be spatial peaks and nulls.
