Just uploaded the latest The Little Things Radio show or is it the Lily Things Show?
Enjoy.
Barry of Blue Bucket Radio AM 1520
Thank you Barry and Stephanie.
I have the show, now I need to look at the schedule and find a slot to run it on KDX Worldround Radio.
Congratulations on your recent court victory!
At 7:59 AM CST we are hearing "The Lilly Things Show" from Blue Bucket Radio over the combined facilities of KDX and KDX-FM.
The signal originates in Kentucky from two transmitters, a newly built AMT3000 and a past-built Talking House V5.0 on two frequencies, 530 and 1610 AM.
It may not be 1610 AM, it could be 1630 AM or something, what you need to do is scroll around until you find it, then let us know.
Barry and Stephanie sound good at any time of the day, very much so this morning with a second day of rain here in the midwaste. They sound very dry.
1/2 Hour Later -
Barry expressed concern about how the show sounds in the technical sense... said no processing was being used... but consider this...
Coming over the air on KDX it sounds "New York Quality", which means EXCELLENT.
Then too, it is passing through Stereo-Tools and being optimized for a very full modulation.
Whatever mics are being used, I would recommend them as excellent voice microphones.
I will make this a quick post as we have intentions of trading rooms with our daughters today.
They have the only upstairs bedroom that happens to be the warmest room in the house since heat rises.
But that is not why we are moving our bedroom and studio to the upstairs, that room also happens to be the biggest bedroom and gives our studio not only a new home but a direct line to the side of the house where the SSTran will be installed in the yard.
So we are gaining a larger and hopefully quieter studio close to the yard as well as giving the girls the cooler room saving me money on heating bills this winter.
Also I wanted to clear up some confusion, we moved to AM 1520 due to intereference from 1600 and 1610. Two strong stations occupy those frequencies and 1520 was the frequency of the AM station i used to work for , WRSL AM/FM Stanford,Ky now known as WXKY FM and owned by Educational Media Foundation.
The old call sign WRSL AM is now on 1600 Khz in Corbin , Ky with 1 Kw daytime non directional and 27 watts nights non directional.
We dropped the 102.7 FM signal in favor of the potential range AM offers.
Edited:
The microphones are InnoGear Condenser microphones we found on Amazon a while back, i see they are slightly cheaper now.
We have 3, one is pink which of course is Stephanies mic, guest mic is blue and my mic is black. The screens are gold. I am surprised by their quality as well.
So it looks like no one is interested in moving anything right now.
I mentioned in the show that i didn't like the sound of my voice over AM Radio, mostly because I was monitoring our signal over headphones plugged into a radio.
The show is recorded directly from the mixing board into a usb interface which is connected to a netbook running Audacity, so what you hear on our show in mp3 format is different from what I heard over the radio with headphones.
Over headphones our voices were bassy and lacked the high and midrange frequencies we were used to hearing when we were on FM, they weren't muffled just bass heavy.
I am wondering what I need to do to clean that up without changing the processing for the rest of our material. Right now the processing comes from Realtek HD Audio Manager which is the Windows interface for the sound card built into the HP I use for programming.
I adjusted the microphones using the bass, midrange and treble controls on the Behringer mixer, however this does not help the sound of the micropones over the air so what i need to do is process the microphones some how before their audio goes out onto the air waves.
The play out computer is running into the mixer along with the mic's , the transmitter is fed audio from the Main Out 1/4 " jacks from the mixer to the sstran.
So music or programs played from the computer into the mixer is processed, the mic's however are not. I am not using the compression on the sstran either.
Not sure what to do to clean up the microphone audio before it goes to the transmitter.
